Merchant Vetting Analyst

The Merchant Vetting analyst will support the underwriting and perform expert-level risk evaluation of PayPal’s merchants of all sizes. Areas of analyst focus will include but is not limited to performing risk management analysis and vetting, assuring regulatory adherence, assisting with merchant monitoring and enforcement operation, and balancing the overall business impact of Merchant Risk Monitoring operations. Success will be measured by the ability to enable the merchant services business by optimizing revenue and losses. In addition, performance will be based on the ability to minimize risk to PayPal, quality of vetting decision-making and enforcement as viewed by regulators, credit processors, customers, and internal stakeholders.

Job Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Operations Research or equivalent work experiences.

? Experience in financial services industry is required. At least two years of merchant acquiring, prior risk management or credit underwriting experience is required.

? Customer communication experience in both phone and email support.

? Direct experience in utilizing analytical skills to identify critical trends

? Strong analytical skill - must be able to analyze complex data, draw meaningful conclusion, and make a holistic business recommendations

? Ability to approach problems in a quantitative and qualitative manner

? Excellent internal and external communication (verbal and written) skills

Basic Qualifications

·Implementation of Credit Vetting and Procedures

? Conduct full credit Vetting including assessment of merchant risk, vet merchants on a timely basis; present detailed recommendations to management, cross-functional Risk Management organization and Merchant Services BU

? Interpret and analyze credit bureau reports, financial statements, merchant processing statements, business history, background investigations, bank and trade references. Calculate reserve/collateral requirements based on credit exposure.

? Communicate directly with a wide range of PayPal teams, merchants and vendors during credit underwriting process in a professional manner.

? Document all communication with accounts accurately and in a timely manner via system tools. Ensure that issues are escalated properly to appropriate internal departments and management

? Establish and maintain accurate and thorough documentation on all systems, reports, and analytical methodologies used. Provide strong centralized information management for all risk areas and geographic regions to minimize redundancies and coordinate efficient business execution.

? Perform ongoing monitoring of specified accounts and portfolio in accordance with approval policies

? Translate complex quantitative information into presentations that are easily understood by general management
