Job Title: Regional Buyer

  

Report to: Regional Purchasing Manager

  

Business Unit: DNP

  

Location: Shanghai

  


  


  

The Challenge:

  

  1. Ensure supply of the assigned products/services for the site/region at the lowest total cost of ownership

  2. Execute contract implementation for DNP and DSM commodity groups

  3. Job requires good category expertise (supplier base and market trends) and need for continuous learning to keep knowledge up-to-date

  4. Dealing with regional supplier base and multiple sites located in different countries

  5. Knowing country specific regulations with impact on specific categories

  6. Building credibility across internal customer community

  7. Knowing and understanding large group of diverse internal customers

  8. Working in close collaboration with the Global Strategic Buyers who might not be located on the same location

  9. Good knowledge of purchasing processes for the assigned categories

  10. Working in cross functional project teams.

                    

  

  

The Position:

  

Purchase the required products/services at the lowest possible cost

  

  • Maintain overview of regional supply market, search for (new) suppliers

  • Negotiate supply contracts for assigned product range

    

Participate and support in functional networks

  

  • Contribute actively to the Business Purchase Plan by developing and implementing saving opportunities

  • Report status of saving initiatives on a regular basis to the Global Strategic Buyer resp. Regional Purchasing Manager

  • Actively participate in Purchasing Network meetings

  • Define and validate the sourcing strategy using internal and external analysis

        

Develop and implement sourcing activities for regional categories

  

  • Lead internal and external analysis (industry & supplier) in collaboration with Sourcing analysts

  • Develop sourcing strategy

  • Prepare and lead fact based negotiation and select supplier

  • Lead contract implementation and resolve important issues

  • Manage/evaluate contract compliance, data management and supplier performance and take necessary corrective actions

  • Evaluate and renew contract by identifying and prioritizing opportunities for reduction of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

            

Manage relationships / partnership with internal customers during projects

  

  • Within the framework of the cross-functional sourcing and supplier development teams, closely develop and manage the relationship with internal customers

  • Collect and manage internal customers feedback & supplier performance (based on defined KPIs)

  • Proactively organize sessions with internal customers to identify further TCO reduction opportunities

  • Develop and manage relationship with suppliers and track their performance

  • Establish new relationship with suppliers

          

Manage relationship with suppliers

  

  • Continuously track supplier performance in accordance with supplier evaluation and audit policies

  • Lead supplier development activities; set up cross-functional review meetings with suppliers in order to improve performance and further reduce cost

  • Initiate and conduct supplier audits

  • Identify potential contract improvement opportunities & re-negotiations

        

Advice internal customers on supply market, cost effective alternatives

  

  • Conduct content management of electronic catalogues

  

Contract manager role for globally and regionally negotiated categories: execute contract implementation and ensure contract compliance.

Provide input to the Global Strategic Buyer on the annual context / trends in the category.

During a Sourcing project, be actively involved in the strategic Sourcing process as a member of the cross functional Sourcing team.

      


  


  

The Ideal:

  

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration, commerce, engineering or other relevant discipline or extensive experience in purchasing/commercial functions

  2. Professional experience (5 years) in Purchasing, marketing & sales or (site) service functions.

  3. Recognized qualification in Purchasing.

  4. Good category knowledge.

  5. Purchasing processes (Sourcing and operational) in business-to-business context.

  6. Good SAP and MS Office knowledge

  7. Languages (English; for Regio sites: ideally English, German and French)

  8. Good knowledge of contracting tools

                Very good negotiating skills
