Major Responsibilities:

List major areas of responsibilities and accountabilities of the position.  Where appropriate, include quantifiable data; i.e., budget dollars.

 

·         Analysis of the multiple legal, customer and TRW internal requirements and derivation of core development specifications. 

·         Creating various technical solutions and judging them according to a useful requirement profile.

·         Design of single components, assemblies and modules.

·         Creating appropriate 3D models and verifying the functionality of the design in an appropriate assembly layout.

·         Creating appropriate 2D Drawings with appropriate tolerance scheme and define the critical characteristics.

·         Use tools like tolerance calculation, FMEA, simulation and DOE to optimize the design.

·         Get an agreement together with the responsible departments from Purchasing (SDE) and with potential supplier as well as with Manufacturing (ME) and the related plants about the manufacturability of the designed product.

·         Clarification and definition of test plans for prototypes, pre-series and serial production parts. Arranging appropriate prototypes with prototype department and support test department and V&V department in doing and analysing the tests according to the required specifications and documents.

·         Achieving of the internal technical release for the development steps CV, DV, PV according to the TRW GDPIM process and the given product specification as well as keeping the required cost ant time line for the development.

·         Responsible for Bill of Material of the targeted components and assemblies for all stages of development until serial production.

·         Create DVP&R for components drawings and communicate it with supplier and customer team

·         Analysis of quality issues from serial production and supporting in develop ideas and actions for improvement

·         Supporting application projects or development projects from customer.

·         Applying of lessons learned / best practices

·         Analyzing of cost of assemblies and modules and develop design concepts to support VA/VE-cost optimization activities.

·         Standardize of components and components families.

·         Ability in development of components for vehicle specific safety restraint systems.

·         Well communication skills and open for international team members.

·         Able to work task oriented and self motivated in international matrix organisations.

·         Active thinking, creative.

·         English fluency in both written and spoken, as interface team members are mostly external and international.

·         Well knowledge in 3D modelling with CATIA V5 or similar 3D modelling tools.

·         Well knowledge in 2D drawing making and tolerancing.

·         Tolerance analysis and FMEA of assemblies and sub assembled components.

·         Ability to work for several months in international teams in Europe (i.e. Germany).

·         Well understanding of key characteristics of different materials like injection moulded plastics, punched steel and die casted aluminium.

·         Understanding of tool making for steel punching, plastic moulds or die casting. Understanding of machining prototypes, rapid prototyping and gage design

 

 

Education and Experience:

Educational:            

·         Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Mechanics, Vehicle Technology, or equivalent majors.                      

            

Experience:            

·         1 – 5 years experience in development at automobile supplier industry

·         English speaking and writing.

·         Experience in component design of mass production parts of different materials like injection moulding of plastics, punching of steel and die casting of aluminium.

·         Experience in tool making of steel punching, plastic moulds or die casting, machining prototypes, rapid prototyping, gage design and others

·         Driving design projects through different design stages until start of serial production.
