Job Responsibilities:

• DBS has recently reshaped its strategy around data. The bank is pursuing an aggressive strategy to create a culture that is data driven.  A multi-year program has been kicked off with themed workstreams, one of them is about unblocking problems preventing access, discovery, utilization of the data platform for three different personas: data scientists, data analysts, all staff in the bank.
• In DBS, the Data Management Office supports enterprise wide data management through partnership with business/support units and respective project teams, providing guidance, governance, support and training.
• The Data Architecture and Engineering will be part of the in-country Data Management Office which is responsible for design and actualize the DBS China’s Data Architecture including:

1. a robust, fit-for-purpose and scalable data platform that can serve business digital transformation, data analytics, data scientists, reporting and other business applications,
2. metadata management,
3. reference data management,
4. data modelling,
5. data access control implementation and data platform engineering service.

• He or she will also be responsible for obtaining buy-in and participation from business data analysts, IT application owners, solution architecture, enterprise architecture and DMO in country and group and has significant influence in setting the data architecture strategy, principles, standards, and roadmap for DBS China.
• This is a relative senior level position that requires in-depth knowledge, on the job experience, the ability to effectively collaborate within own department and across broad parts of the organization and influence others without reliance on formal authority.
• Translate the business use cases into reliable, scalable and robust data architecture structures, data modelling layers, and underpinning platform both high and detailed level with techniques and methodologies that will support the business and server unit’s strategy.
• Design and implement the data architecture/models/platform for the data & analytics capability evolution, which requires close cooperation with local and global stakeholders and tech teams.
• Work with Data Stewards and Data Analysts and technology teams to train up them on the metadata/reference management framework and how to achieve goals of its management by using tools like Collibra, which includes formalizing the metadata description, capture methods, registries and maintaining enterprise code sets.
• Partner with Data Stewards and Data Analysts and technology teams in actively advising key stakeholders including project/product owners on future data management technology options with risks, costs, benefits, capabilities and achievability highlighted.
• Regularly review and improve the effectiveness of existing data architectures and the supporting platform.
• Work with Business/Service Units and other data architects (global organization) to produce all required design specifications and ensure sure data solutions and models work together and specifications be followed when design new products and services to fulfill business needs.
• Work with IT teams to make sure IT projects align with the data platform architecture strategic design and data service engineering standards.
• Partner with CISO to maintain data security by implementing controls like role-based access.
• Partner with IT team to provide data platform engineering service.
• The job is accountable for data architecture and engineering strategic design and phased implementation for DBS China.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, Finance or other relevant fields. Computer science knowledge is an added advantage.
• 8+ years data related experience with 3+ years Data Architecture equivalent role.
• Rich experience in data platform setup projects including ODS/data warehouse/big data platform/ETL.
• Rich experience in data analysis, data modelling in financial industry.
• Solid in SQL server, Mysql, Oracle, Maria DB etc, understand or hands on experience of Hadoop ecosystem, strong capability to design feasible and business catered data architecture.
• Deep understanding of database and analytical technologies in the banking industry including MPP and NoSQL database, Data Warehouse design, BI reporting and Dashboard development.
• Proven experience in data model design, ETL/data ingestion design, data migration design, master data management, analytics initiatives and preferably experience in building a data foundation from scratch.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment. Track record of thought leadership and innovation around Big Data.
• Knowledge and understanding of banking data like customer information, products and transaction information preferred.
• Excellent management and delivery skills
• Demonstrated track record of a high level of personal initiative and leadership, and of setting and achieving challenging goals.
• Must be able to work effectively and build strong relationships with teams throughout the organization
• Independent, organized, self-motivated and a team player.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with a fine attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively and work in evolving / changeable environment.
• Possesses excellent judgment, knows when to escalate complex issues to senior management or business partners with relevant expertise.
• Experience with DevOps and Agile development practices.
• Knowledge of the fast-evolving data technology international and locally.
