Job Title:  Director, Supply Base Operations

 

Department:    Operations                                                                               

Reports To:  VP

 

Direct Reports: Asia based factory support team

Position Overview:
Provides overall day to day leadership and direction to the supply base operations team in Asia Pacific (APAC).  Serves as the primary operational focal point between Asia based suppliers (including CM’s, ODM’s and component suppliers) and the greater Inseego Operations team. 

Responsibilities:

• Primary responsibility is to ensure flawless operational execution by our CM and ODM suppliers in Asia.  Must develop and maintain strong relationships deep into the ODM organizations.  Functions effortlessly across organizational boundaries and is comfortable working with all levels within the CM/ODM organization.  Often required to take the lead and engage with tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers to resolve issues pertaining to component supply, quality, delivery or other operational or technical challenges.  Often required to perform analysis on a variety of topics such as validating purchase price variance, excess and obsolescence exposure, supply & demand matching, etc.   
• Willing to be available 7*24 as necessary to resolve critical production issues in a timely manner.  Individual in this role is a self-starter and seasoned leader who develops the appropriate internal and external networks to enable him/her to make decisions and provide direction with minimal supervisory direction.  Individual is self-correcting and ensures that decisions & recommendations are fact-based and represent an accurate and complete assessment of the situation. 
• Daily production call with CMs and ODMs to review materials, build status and other issues.
• Review key critical issues with Asia supply base operations team and write up key highlights daily to communicate and escalate critical issues to senior management for action.
• Lead daily call with HQ team to review materials, build status and other issues.
• Bi-weekly forecast collaboration meeting with CMs/ODMs together with Inseego planning team.
• Manage ODM performance on OTD, build plan attainment and improve Delivery to Customer Request performance.
• Act as the second level materials shortage issue escalation point at Inseego and drive most of critical issues to closure.
• Manage Excess & Obsolescence activities at CM/ODM and supplier sites to minimize the exposure and liability.
• Review and approve some of PPV items such as component expedite freight cost, business split deviation based upon business needs
• Collaborate with commodity sourcing team to improve flexibility and shorten lead time for component suppliers.
• Act as a local lead in managing operational relationship with CMs/ODMs except pricing and contract negotiation.
• SOX maintenance – review and update procurement process and procedure files (quarterly)
• Act as a local lead in implementing corporate supply chain strategies and Initiatives.
• Accountable for overall management of CMs/ODMs and key suppliers including cost setting & capabilities to meet internal and external needs & expectations, operating efficiently and cost effectively.
• Interacts seamlessly with executive level management within Inseego on matters of significance. 
• Role may require travel to suppliers and/or customer site(s).

 

Experience/Requirements:

• Outstanding leadership and technical skills and sound judgement.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills, both written and spoken.  Confident presenting conclusions and recommendations to an audience of senior executives
• Ability to perform well under pressure.
• Maintains an up to the minute knowledge of current & emerging issues within the Inseego supply chain. 
• Ability to manage a large number of tasks concurrently and prioritize effectively.
• Team Player, flexible and collaborative.
• Articulate and dead-line oriented.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree.  Advanced technical degree or MBA desirable.
