SUMMARY OF JOB:

Position Summary

Conduct and manage fundamental or applied research in embedded systems to improve, or generate new, solutions, components, equipment, systems, and processes. Guarantees maintenance of a high level of skill in an advanced fully mastered technical area, devises its application principles and places them at the disposal of the technical function. Part of small team of engineers – innovation projects definition and execution, technical choices arbitration and mentoring less experienced staff.

· Defines and executes innovation and research projects: define project plan, objectives and provide deliverables according to project plan

· Responsible for performing basic theoretical, experimental and technological investigation

· Proves design concepts through a combination of simulation and physical laboratory implementation/testing.

· Evaluates and validates technical and technological alternatives to create optimum solutions that create lasting differentiation and value to HBN customers

· Remains abreast of the latest developments in technical specialty to guide future development efforts.

· Participates in subsystem and system level design verification planning and testing.

· Recognized expert within the company and the market

· Fosters collaboration with internal HBN cross functional teams and with SE Technology & Innovation teams

· Fosters and drives collaboration with external scientific institutions and universities

· Learns from customers and develop valuable insights to their real problems

SCOPE & SIZE:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION – MINIMUN REQUIRED LEVEL:

BSEE/MSEE or equivalent degree or training;

EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIRED:

3-5 years experience in the design and implementation of embedded systems

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 1 – REQUIRED:

Experience in embedded system firmware development of real-time control, state machine implementation and communication protocols.

Experience in developing and debugging applications using Assembly, C or C++ (including drivers, memory management, and efficient driver communication methods) for microcontrollers, ARM processors, DSPs, and/or PSoCs.

Experience developing and debugging software for microcontroller peripherals and systems (e.g. LCD controllers, boot loaders, interrupt and trap functions, RS232/RS485 serial and parallel interfaces, USB, EEPROM, etc.)

Experience in real time operating system, tasks scheduling and execution analysis.

Demonstrated ability with development tools, including emulators and version control software.

Good understanding of wire line and wireless data protocol stacks including TCP/IP, Zigbee and WiFi is a plus.

Basic understanding of Power electronics converter and Inverter control is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 2 – DESIRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:

Project management

Experience developing embedded systems for power controlled related products

Familiar with simulation tools (MATLAB, SIMULINK)

TRAVEL:

Occasional international travel is required

IT Business offers the industry’s most comprehensive product and solution range for critical IT and process applications in industrial, enterprise, small and medium business and home environments.

In 2008, Shanghai R&D Center of IT Business was inaugurated in Shanghai. As a core R&D group under the Schneider Electric IT Business, Shanghai R&D center is working on the new product development of Surge-Protection Power, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Precision Cooling Solution, Racks & Accessories, and Power Distribution Units.

·Specialize in surge and line conditioner technologies.
·Build expertise in embedded systems and UPS technology starting with derivative projects starting in 2009.
·With UPS experience, build China customer expertise for Home segment projects.
Charter
To design, develop and bring to market solutions for HBN customers using APC's mature solution concept prioritization, research and PMP methods. The solutions will be made of robust subsystems that can be easily reused in other HBN products. Whenever possible, and within product cost and time to market program constraints, trade-offs shall be made in favor of reliability, modularity and scalability/ extensitibility.
We will leverage our location to best integrate product solution architecture with China suppliers of surge protector and components.
We will leverage our location near manufacturing to best utilize the resources that achieve our quality, cost and time to market objectives.

·Lead the market World Wide, with Best in Class Rack & Power distribution, Cooling solution & related Service for Data Center, Industry & Building Environments.
·Pursue a Clear Leader Strategy in Racks & Accessories, Power Distribution Units and Service
·Maintain Challenger Strategy in Cooling with pushing highly innovative Solutions and targeting top of mind IT Decision maker issues
Primary Mission
Create profitable product solutions in support of PMP Product Roadmap initiatives and create value for our Customers worldwide.
Key Accountabilities
·New product design creativity and implementation excellence.
·Innovate through technology.
·Develop PMP capability on all product families.
·Initiate and support In-Region vendor selection/development for technical product applications.
·Support Manufacturing Operations as In-region product/process technical resource.
·Assist Factory Operations in product trouble-shooting and theory of operations training.
·Support PMP sourcing (initial & second source) and Value Engineering initiatives on technical applications.
·Facilitate In-region compliance approvals to support Zone Sales initiatives.
·Support Zone as In-region product expert.
Relationships and Sponsorship
·The Shanghai R&D Center will use Engineering Administration resources from IT Business in US to support Oracle and Notes data entry; and Patent and Environmental consulting and administration. Sharing of knowledge and skill between Shanghai and all engineering groups in all locations is required to be successful. Team Work driving our achievements with good communication and effective cooperation in Schneider Big Home.
