This Business Development position represents a senior role within our Markets team. The role’s primary purpose is to help shape and implement business development initiatives that will drive a sustainable change in our competitive positioning, both with key clients and the wider sector across greater China, leveraging existing assets as extensively as possible through effective collaboration throughout the KPMG network.
This role is both strategic and operational. The individual will need to have an aptitude for strategic thinking in order to help shape the development of our [technology] sector proposition, including go-to-market strategies in collaboration with the leadership team. At an operational level, the role will also be ‘hands-on’ to support our partners and associates in achieving sustainable business development success for KPMG.
Responsibilities
- Work with Sector Lead Partner to develop Technology sector strategy, and be responsible for integration and execution of the plan
- Identify, pursue and convert opportunities for account teams
- Maintain long-term, sustainable account development strategies and relationship plans for our key client accounts
- Identify and gather information on market developments, client requirements and business development opportunities within the sector to ensure our development strategy stays current and relevant to client needs
- Identify and gather information on new client issues through regular client meetings and industry networking
- Drive business development initiatives, develop and maintain profitable business relationships and extend KPMG’s presence in the Technology sector
- Support key business development initiatives. including bid proposal and contract / commercial management
- Work with Market Services Division to ensure integration of marketing campaigns into account strategies relevant to the client
- Manage key account portfolio which includes detailed relationship matrix and plans, and ongoing pipeline opportunities
Experience & Skills
- University graduate with a minimum of 9-12 years’ work experience
- Good working knowledge of the professional services market, ideally gained from employment within Big 4, consulting and / advisory
- Sound understanding of the Technology and “Start Up” sector, including the key industry, market and regulatory drivers shaping change and, an ability to articulate these in meaningful and relevant ways to clients. Venture Capital experience would be preferred, but is not essential
- Proven ability to develop business and long-term corporate relationships at an individual and organizational level, including success in identifying, initiating, and nurturing business opportunities
- Solid experience with developing relationships with senior executives
- Highly effective at networking and internal collaboration with a diverse team of professionals
- Thorough understanding of client needs, and developing relevant and valued solutions
- Dynamic, energetic, self-motivated & resilient, with the ability to work under pressure and some ambiguity from time to time. The ability to work at pace whilst delivering pragmatic and high quality outcomes is important
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate sometimes complex technical information into clear, audience-appropriate messages
- Commercial acumen
- Creativity and the ability to apply this in generating differentiated and accelerated business results
- English speaking is required. Chinese is preferred
