Job Description:
McDonald's China Legal Department seeks a highly motivated and effective lawyer to join its Compliance and Risk Management team in Shanghai. A background in compliance, internal investigation, dispute resolution, government investigation or real estate transaction is preferred.
The Counsel position is mainly responsible for compliance, dispute resolution and government investigation. The position reports to the Senior Compliance Director, and will be instrumental in providing strategic thought partnership to the practice area, in addition to our business partners.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide advice and counsel to business partners on compliance issues, trends and programs; promote a culture of integrity, ethical decision-making and speaking up;
2. Manage compliance related matters including third party due diligence, internal investigation and compliance risk management;
3. Provide oversight and coaching to functions that conduct investigation with compliance’s direction;
4. Manage disputes and handle litigation, arbitration and other claims;
5. Lead to advise business team on government investigation covering various areas of company’s business;
6. Work collaboratively with and advise business partners on issues arising from daily operations; identify developments, issues and situations that require internal collaboration;
7. Provide necessary training to internal and external business partners;
- Partner with practice area head to identify process improvements; and
- Work with cross-functional teams and engage in effective dialogue with various stakeholders and subject matter experts.
Qualifications:
1. Law degree from a top PRC university, minimum 7 years experiences in a reputable domestic or international law firm or in-house position in a multinational company;
2. Solid knowledge and experiences in compliance, investigation, dispute resolution, government investigation etc.;
3. Ability to manage complex issues and develop practical solutions while maintaining discretion and protecting confidentiality;
4. Strong analyzing and document drafting skills in Chinese; be fluent in English;
5. Ability to understand business needs and develop strong relationships with business partners, and function as a proactive partner to the business;
6. Ability to work independently as a compliance and legal professional, and exercise independent informed and considered judgment with minimal supervision;
7. Excellent communication skills and inter-personal skills; ability to think creatively to solve problems; and
8. Strong sense of integrity and belief in integrity as a core value in business.
