Design Director(Women's wear)

 

Responsibilities:

?Understand the vision and long term strategy set by the company, implement this in day to day design work and customer projects

?Lead a team of fashion designers in creating bi-annual collection

?Research print, pattern and color trend direction – constantly staying up-to-date on what is happening in the market relevant to our customers

?Lead the design process by controlling the workload and structuring the daily activities within the design team.

?Manage and own the overall product development process from planning to sample completion in line with the seasonal PD calendar

?Manage the team with a hands-on mentality – providing frequent input, direction and guidance on the day-to-day development process

?Train and develop the team to improve their technical skill sets

?Awareness to cost engineering and maintaining a competitive cost for the customers when needed

?Build and maintain relationships with key strategic business partners, suppliers and fabric mills

?Provide leadership and mentoring to staff, setting goals and providing feedback, encouraging both individual and team productivity

?Oversee organization of sampling and maintenance of samples and design area

?Coordinating set up presentations for customer meetings (i.e. preparation of boards, setting up showroom, executing sampling, etc.)

Requirements:

?Bachelors degree holder in Fashion Design or Product Development related field

?5-10 years relevant experience in Design & PD for apparel

?Elevated understanding of fabrication and trims

?Creative and skilled in fashion design

?Excellent understanding and use of color theory

?Enthusiastic and ambitious team player who is proactive in problem solving

?Able to work well under pressure and manage tight timelines

?Proficient in computer sketching, creating tech packs and sample development tracking

?Excellent written and spoken English

?Some understanding of written/spoken Mandarin a plus

?International travel a few times a year
