Job description: Associate, Advisory Services (Shanghai, China)


Z-Ben Advisors is a Shanghai-based research and strategy consulting firm. We focus on providing strategic advice and execution support for asset managers seeking to develop and expand their businesses in Mainland China. Some examples of previous engagements include market entry platform exploration, M&A advisory, marketing and sales channel strategy development, and investor analyses. We are currently accepting applications for the position of Associate, Advisory Services.
The associate will work closely with senior consultants to interact with clients, understand their needs, and provide solutions in the form of high-quality deliverables with relevant analysis and recommendations. Prior knowledge of and work experience in China's investment management industry is highly preferred. The associate must be able to work creatively and independently, with general guidance from senior consultants, to develop polished reports and presentations for the client. As a member of the advisory services team, the associate will be given the opportunity to work on a variety of advisory projects for both foreign and local Chinese asset managers.

Key responsibilities
1. Work creatively and independently to develop high-quality deliverables, and present them as needed to external clients
2. Follow and become well-versed in important industry, capital market and regulatory trends to develop oneself as an expert in the Chinese investment management industry
3. Contextualize the Z-Ben Advisors' research and knowledge with respect to the clients' needs, objectives, and capabilities
4. Support project management and quality control efforts
5. Identify and pursue business development opportunities with senior management


Requirements
1. Chinese citizen
2. BA/BS, with 2 to 4 years of relevant industry and/or functional work experience
3. Native Mandarin Chinese and professional fluency in English (verbal and written)
4. Ability to develop multiple work streams independently while working on tight deadlines
5. Strong writing and communication skills
6. Ability to work independently as well as in teams
7. Background or strong interest in investment management, finance, or economics
8. Working towards CFA / other industry accreditation is a plus
9. Experience in financial data modeling, research & analysis is a major plus
(e.g. Wind terminal for data collection, and subsequent quant analysis)
