Impact on the Business/Function

? Be the recognised DevOps and Agile technical expert.

? Lead and own the development and implementation of DevOps and Agile aligned architecture strategy, methods and standards globally.

? Accountable for the delivery of all aspects of the design and material decision making on these major architectural activities.

? Accountable for the identifcation, mangement and remediation of material design issues associated with these major architectural activities.

? Introduce new DevOps and Agile aligned practices, processes, techniques, products, services, technologies and standards.

? Accountable design authority for technology decisions and leadership of the appropriate governance bodies.

? Review services provided against the DevOps and Agile strategy and benchmark internally/externally as appropriate.

? Stay abreast of technology trends and advise IT and the business about potential benefits/impacts.

? Provide a consultancy role to IT and business teams where appropriate.

? Where appropriate, provide full life cycle architectural guidance to development teams and ensure quality technical deliverables.

Leadership & Teamwork

? Responsible for leading, driving and executing the DevOps and Agile architecture strategy

? Actively promote the benefits of DevOps and Agile, accepted best practice techniques, standards and tools to other areas of the group and external suppliers where necessary.

? Ensure that the highest level of quality for all activities and products is provided.

? Drive future state DevOps architecture execution in collaboration with stakeholders.

? Drive partnerships with technology vendors to influence industry direction.

? Represent HSBC at industry round table forums & conferences.

? Host internal and external communities of practice.

? Mentor and coach less experienced members of staff and promotes understanding of the value of DevOps and Agile and the appropriate use of architecture, technologies and standards.

? Be a prominent member withing the global architecture community.

? Build strong relationships with engineering and operations teams.

? Identify and develop architecture and design talent within IT, both within directly managed teams and within other aligned teams.

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

? Manage architecture reviews through the appropriate governance mechanisms ensuring peer review of all activities.

? Ensure that any new technology products are taken through the appropriate governance mechanisms.

? Ensure that all existing/new service patterns/deployments guides are taken through the appropriate governance mechanisms.

? Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the group’s standards of ethical behaviour.

? Continiously strive to improve governance mechanisms and internal instructions.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

Budget control: This role may be responsible for its respective direct costs ($500k-$5M USD) dependent upon respective business / function / service responsibility.

? Commercial Influence: This role will have influence over the total technology budget within the <business/technology/product domain or portfolio>, with values of up to $250M.

? Entity/functional management: This job may have line management responsibility of Lead IT Architects and/or IT Architects.

? Relationships: Global Business & Global Functions Management; Head of Architecture for a Global Business or Global Function, IT Domain Heads, Key partnerships with Strategic Vendors.

? Strategic importance - High: Leads and owns the development and implementation of global architecture strategy and standards.

? Regulatory & Risk – D – Manages risks identified through design proceses and governance mechanisms. communicates changes in Architecture policy & governance effectively.
