Roles and Responsibilities

• Respond to tickets and work requests from various customers and respond rapidly.
• Manage multiple tasks in a well-organised manner, focusing effort on priority items
• Keep stakeholders informed of progress and reaching out for help where necessary.
• Support critical changes outside of hours as needed.
• Participate in on-call rotation with other Unix administrators for planned changes.
• Troubleshoot software and hardware issues.
• Diagnose system resource constraints
• Create, modify, and maintain Unix-related scripts and batch jobs.
• Maintain operating system (OS) stability including bug fixes, critical patches, resource utilization.
• Collaborate with other Unix Administrators in a Community of Practice to promote best practices.
• Provide coverage with other Unix Administrators to cover work during absences.
• Participate in Agile team meetings to report daily status of work in progress.
• Document new processes and changes to existing processes.
• Use Company-approved tools and methods in the course of daily work.

Candidate Requirements

? 5 to 8 years of Unix/Linux Systems Administration experience with in-depth knowledge of troubleshooting, OS hardening & OS tuning primarily RedHat

? Advanced UNIX shell /Perl scripting

? 2+ years of experience with Server Virtualization technology including HP VMware

? Experience with clustering tools such as Veritas Cluster Server, Red Hat Clustering

? Knowledge of SAN technology and its impact on the server environment

? Communicates fluently in English, both spoken and written.

? Excellent interpersonal skills willing to collaborate and mentor others.

? Ability to work independently, identify key issues, involve affected parties, design solutions and communicate effectively through resolution

? Must be willing participate in shifts and some weekend support

? Excellent organization skills e.g. ability to prioritize and multitask, complete projects within defined timescales

Desired Skills

? In-depth knowledge working with Server Automation tools like HPSA to stage and run software policy

? Working knowledge of database support, specifically Oracle

? Knowledge or experience working in AWS cloud or other similar technologies

? Experience supporting, configuring, and patching Solaris
