Software Development Engineer

· Designs and develops software for layer 2 networking features and protocols

· Validates software products through the use of systematic tests to develop and maintain quality standards for company products.

· Develops, modifies, and executes software test plans, automated scripts and programs for testing.

· Develops software for Linux-based embedded software systems for managing, monitoring and controlling of customized high speed hardware and ASICS.

· Develops new Ethernet hardware modules and provides support for existing Ethernet modules for the OmniSwitch.

· Analyzes requirements specifications and produces software design documents based on specified requirements.

· Works with software quality assurance engineers and customer support engineers to solve issues and produce quality software releases.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as a Software Engineer.

Qualified candidates must have prior work experience in the following:

1. C programming and real-time operating system such as VxWorks or embedded linux.

2. C++ programming and object oriented concepts.

3. Layer 2 networking protocols such as 802.1d, 802.1q, and 802.1ad.

4. Implementing Quality of Service and Traffic Management.

5. Low-level ASIC and device drivers.

6. Solaris/UNIX development environment, systems debugging experience using GDB tools, memory management tools, and SNMP ASN.1 notation.

7. Developing and testing embedded software.

8. Programming on Linux operating systems.

9. Networking technologies such as Ethernet, bridging, spanning tree protocol, link aggregation, routing protocols, vlans.
