OPPORTUNITY
Bravo Sports has a wide range of products manufactured at 30+ factories throughout China. Our success and competitive advantage is driven by creating innovative quality product at the best costs while providing industry leading service and delivery reliability.
Our Shanghai office is now seeking a highly-motivated engineer with diverse technical experience in hard goods product development, materials (plastics, steel, aluminum, fabric), quality, and manufacturing to provide subject matter expertise and be the engineering guru across Bravo Sports' product development projects. This individual will work closely with the product designers, category product engineers, merchandisers, quality engineers, and supplier teams in the U.S and China. This is a hands-on position, not an administrative or data maintenance position. We are looking for an experienced engineer to solve challenging issues and whose passion is to dive into details to develop new ideas and concepts.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Provide engineering expertise to development projects from concept through production
Collaborate with international engineers & suppliers for prototyping, sample procurement, testing, and issue resolution
Provides preliminary feedback of prototype quality and construction
Supports product documentation where needed
Research and design new components using different materials to reduce component failure, cost, and/or improve functional performance
Assist in understanding and applying regulatory standards and intellectual property procedures
Overcome design challenges, i.e., validate and resolve supplier's design objections
Capable of providing advice and direction to manufacturing engineering: jigs and fixtures for new products, tooling, etc.
Provide engineering expertise to quality improvement projects
Analyze quality problems through data analysis, field returns and experimentation to create more robust designs to reduce service incidence rates
Participate in design reviews to provide function and quality input
Assist project team in resolving product test failures
Facilitate studies with project team to mitigate potential failures in the design and assembly process
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
College degree in related Engineering field
Minimum 5+ years experience preferably with consumer hard goods design and manufacturing
Working knowledge of CPSIA, ASTM and EN71 standards and experience working with independent product testing laboratories is strongly desired
Experience working with China factories is require
Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
Must have the ability to gather, research, analyze and make decisions
Capable of working in a team environment
Self-motivated and flexible to work overtime when needed
Ability to travel as needed
Proficient in English and Mandarin (both written and oral)
