Reports to: Director of Engineering
POSITION FUNCTION
Overall responsibility is to carry out the operation and maintenance of data center infrastructure (supply and distribution, emergency power generation, UPS, HVAC, fire protection, Building management systems, etc.) to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of infrastructure systems and 100% uptime. Leading the basic operation and maintenance team to achieve delivery of the Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Develop and implement data center infrastructure operating quality indicators, improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs while increasing productivity.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the data centre critical facilities (FM) team, including on-duty arrangements, job assignments, daily assessments, etc.
- Develop, implement and manage the relevant management systems, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Maintenance Operating Procedures (MOPs), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), emergency response plans, and other policies and procedures as required.
- Plan maintenance schedule. Manage subcontractors’ service and repair work. Ensure all accounts and documentation associated with subcontractors is updated
- Develop, manage and implement change process, event reporting, and handle related emergency works.
- Organize relevant training and drills for the operation and maintenance personnel and ensure on-going professional and personal development of the FM team.
- Ensure data centre staffing requirements are fully covered by suitably trained and experienced staff to ensure full 24/7 operations.
- Negotiate with 3rd party suppliers on maintenance service contracts and supervise its implementation.
- Manage and deliver retrofit work and minor project works, as required, within the data centre.
- Supervise installation, testing and commissioning of new elements of the data centre critical infrastructure and its replacements or upgrades.
- Manage subcontractors to conduct maintenance, audits and evaluations to ensure the stable operation of the data center critical infrastructure.
- Ensure all subcontractors deliver a quality and competent service and that all contractual obligations are met.
- Responsible for data center infrastructure resources management, critical infrastructure capacity management.
- Involve and Manage operation budgeting and forecasting.
· To involve in meeting, presenting performance updates, monthly report, and improvement plan for Operations.
- Ensure appropriate control systems are in place to ensure statutory, policy and contractual commitments are met.
- Responsible for optimization of data center efficiency and costs reduction.
- Manage preparation and submission of regular management and client reports.
- Continuous optimization and improvement of data center critical infrastructure.
- Acts as point of contact during significant events or multi-discipline technical escalations.
- Ensure health and safety policy and procedures are effectively implemented and regularly reviewed.
- Ensure data center is compliant with regulations and standards. Assist internal and external audit.
- Provide appropriate training and development planning for each member of critical FM staff. Ensure basic training needs are delivered, employees are fully competent to undertake their roles, and are able to reach their full future potential.
- Ensure that effective and efficient systems are in place to plan the work ahead, manage the work daily on the ground, communicate the issues around the work to the key stakeholders and measure FM team performance.
- Ensure the professional image of Chayora is presented to clients and visitors at all times.
- Manage other tasks as might be assigned by management.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 7+ years of facilities technical experience in data center or medium to large enterprise environment.
- More than 5 years relevant team management experience.
- Prefer relevant experience working in international corporate environment and very good understanding of international customers’ needs, mentality, expectations, standards, and the way of conducting business and corporate ethics.Detailed understanding and experience of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data centre environment, including: feeders, transformers, generators, fuel systems, switchgear, UPS systems, battery banks, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, air handling units, chilled water systems, fire alarm systems, and fire suppression systems.
- In depth knowledge of enterprise facilities management processes and procedures. Understand data center best practice.
- Experience in security and risk management.
- Experience in managing ISO/FISMA relevant audit processes and documentation.
- Experience in managing escalation and emergency issues.
- Experience in vendor management, ability to manage and monitor progress to ensure objectives are achieved for outsourced support and projects.
- Experience in finance invoicing, budgets and general business accounts.
- Great attitude with internal parties and external customers.
- Ability to deliver under critical conditions.
- Hands on and result oriented approach.
- Fluent in both written and oral English and Mandarin.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master or BE/BS degree in mechanical or electrical, automation or relevant technical field
- Certified Critical Facility Manager or equivalent.
- Excellent knowledge and skills in using MS Office applications.
- Health and safety trained.
