Job Description –

To manage credit risk, operational risk and market risk of the ICICI Bank, Shanghai branch; with primary focus on conducting thorough credit risk assessment of Chinese corporates and express views on corporate credit of the Bank.

Credit risk – expert level

1. Evaluate all Chinese credit facilities for the branch and region which are recommended to approving authority and express views on credit risk profile of the borrower in accordance with the policy of the Bank (including the branch)

2. Work alongside Business Groups and provide solutions to enhance credit quality of the proposals

3. Meet relevant senior officials of the borrower and other bank/financial institution lenders to benchmark and understand counter-views

4. Recommend credit rating of credit facilities to rating committee members in Risk management group, prepare rating rationale and comply with internal credit rating framework of the Bank

5. Monitor and review quality of assets portfolio at the branch and provide relevant inputs to the Senior Management Forum (SMF) for effective decision making on portfolio management

Market risk and liquidity risk- intermediate/beginner level

6. Monitor and ensure that the liabilities portfolio as well as treasury operations at the branch are in accordance with the Treasury Investment Policy of the Bank and make appropriate recommendations to the ALCO of the branch in coordination with Market Risk group of the Bank at the head office in India.

Operational risk – intermediate/beginner level

7. Monitor operational risk matters (including outsourcing risk) at the branch in accordance with process and policy of the Bank and appropriately report to the Operational Risk Management Forum/Branch Outsourcing Forum of the branch in coordination with Operational Risk group of the Bank at the head office in India.

Other responsibilities

8. Review/recommend policies, processes, product notes applicable at the branch

9. To undertake projects and assignments from time to time as directed by the immediate reporting authority

10. Interact with internal auditor, statutory auditor and regulator to resolve queries related to risk management policies and practices of the Branch

Job Requirements/ Specification:

1. CFA and/or FRM charter holder

2. Area of work: Credit risk management and credit rating of Chinese corporates

Functional Skills

1. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills

2. Good comprehension and appreciation of existing and anticipated risk management systems in geographies in North Asia, with special focus in China.

3. Ability to challenge and convince - independently and constructively - the senior management, peers or other relevant staff, to conduct business with the desired risk return profile.

4. Ability to analyse proposals in considerable detail, while never losing sight of the ‘big picture’. Propose solutions that assist the business in achieving returns commensurate with risk profile

5. Good understanding of industry dynamics in Chinese corporate sector and understanding of a number of Chinese corporate

6. Good understanding of trade finance facilities and credit lending structures in China Networking in the industry –Banks (Chinese and MNC), rating agencies, fund houses etc.

7. Making presentation to senior management at the Branch, and at Head office
