Description
Global Portfolio Planning is seeking an ambitious and thoughtful individual to help shape the future GM product portfolio in China, and facilitate decisions for investment of corporate resources. Special responsibilities include Cadillac Portfolio Planning and GM China cross-brand technology planning.
Key responsibilities include
- Create nuanced, actionable analyses of vehicle portfolio opportunities, leveraging data sources such as long-term volume forecasts, competitive intelligence, regulatory projections and financial data.
- Build strong relationships and create cross-functional teams with partners from across the globe, the vehicle program teams, as well as contacts in Design, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, Powertrain, and Manufacturing.
- Collaborate with these functions on the process to make bold portfolio proposals, and ensure efficient transition from initial study to approved decision by top management
- Manage imperatives such as risk management, program deliverables management, gate reviews and decision approvals
- Examples of past projects include: Yearly Portfolio sufficiency, portfolio electrification, Cadillac Vision portfolio
Bachelor’s degree required
- Excellent level of analytical ability
- Experience in turning data into meaningful analysis
- Ability to handle multiple assignments, and manage projects with a high level of autonomy and accountability
- Strong communication skills and ability to give clear direction and instructions to colleagues across the globe
- Effective global meeting facilitator
- Familiarity with sales/market analysis, volume forecasting, competitor intelligence, GM’s Global Vehicle Development Process, and program management
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint
- Ability to act with discretion using extremely confidential internal and external information, including product/manufacturing plans, financials and potential external partnerships
Preferred background:
- Master’s Degree, preferably MBA or equivalent & Technical undergraduate
- Direct experience in program management or similar role within a program team, with deep understanding of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) and related systems (CR/DN, Product Program Content, Global Status and Timing System, etc.)
- Experience with the fundamentals of vehicle program financial analysis
- 3-5years of experience with major automotive OEM (Planning, Engineering, Program Management, etc)
