ELIX Wireless Charging Systems (www.elixwireless.com) is a Vancouver based startup that develops a fundamentally different method of wireless charging. ELIX intends to build products around its unique and patent-pending technology, which was originally developed at the University of British Columbia. The technology has been demonstrated in the wireless charging of a fleet of electric service vehicles at the University of British Columbia as well as in a fleet of police cruisers.

As a result of our continuing growth, ELIX is constantly looking for candidates who are motivated by the challenge of building new disruptive technology and innovative products. ELIX currently has an opportunity for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join us in our Shanghai, China location. The Senior Electronics Engineer is responsible for designing and developing motor drives, AC/DC power conversion circuits and implement the tests.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Senior Electronics Engineer will:

® Design and develop power-efficient motor drives, power factor correction (PFC), inverters and AC/DC power conversion circuits.

® Develop and perform the acceptance test plans for motor drive and charging sub-systems with R&D team

® Prepare the specifications for systems/designs and products for procurement

® Ensure the preparation of technical reports and/or related documentation

® Make key decisions regarding the procurement or fabrication and maintenance of required supplies and equipment

® Working with our Sourcing team to qualify the local purchased parts, audit and approve the suppliers’ process and quality per our engineering specifications, drawings and related documents.

® Refine the prototype design to a manufacturable design, including detailed specifications for BOM

® Prepare monthly technical reports and/or related documentation

® Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members

® Work closely with mechanical and embedded system engineers.

® Provide technical presentations or answers to industrial partners and potential customers as and when required.

® Report to Operations/Engineering lead in China

Credentials & Experience

® A minimum of 5 years engineering experience working in the power electronics industry

® Degree from recognized university in Electrical Engineering

® Proven ability in designing high power electronics such as VFDs, AC/DC power conversions, LLC resonant converters, PFC and battery chargers.

® Familiarity with electrical international regulatory and product safety standards such as IEC 61000-3-2 and CSA/CUL certification requirements.

® Good understanding of BLDC motors.

® Experience with PCB design software

® Familiarity with different types of traction battery charging CV/CC and BMS

® Experience with automotive product development and CANbus standard is much preferred.

® Experience working in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment.

® Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and work well as part of a team and with minimal supervision.

® Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

® Ability to travel occasionally, including international travel.
