Summary
The Technical Manager of Online Mobile Game Operations, China, is responsible for the deployment and ongoing technical operation of EA’s online mobile games in China as well as internal development supporting, and is a key member of the overall operations team.
The right candidate already has extensive experience managing technical operations for online games, with a proven track record in a leadership role. The right candidate also knows how to be successful working within a larger organization, how to work with 3rd party partners and is comfortable driving the communication between different studios.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities

? Manage the successful deployment and ongoing technical operation of EA’s online mobile games in China to provide continuous 24/7 operation. Specific responsibilities include:
- Plan initial server and database deployments, and then continually review and optimize server and network architecture to maximize performance.
- Set up systems and processes as necessary to ensure continual availability with minimal downtime in the face of rapid growth across China. Set up schedules for ongoing maintenance, and ensure all procedures are carried out.
- Monitor servers to try and identify and correct bugs or performance bottlenecks before they affect players.
- Support continuous improvement by analyzing the voluminous usage data generated by ongoing operations. Work with the studio to ensure appropriate metrics are captured.
- Deliver regular and adhoc reports as needed to stakeholders throughout EA, including the studio, finance, and business development.
- Help design and build any tools which may be needed to facilitate operations, including performance monitoring tools, reporting tools, etc.
- Support integration with third party account and billing solutions as appropriate to reduce barriers of entry for new users.
- Oversee the selection and set-up of additional data centers in China as needed to deliver a world-class experience to EA’s online customers.
- Manage the periodic roll-out of new patches and upgrades to minimize any negative impact on players. Automate and oversee the build creation process to provide new builds for deployment.
? Assist with new product development, including:
- Participate in design reviews for new and upcoming releases.
- Identify and suggest improvements or new features to facilitate more efficient or profitable operations.
 - Support internal development server deployment and monitoring.
? Lead the BI team to provide big data services for the studio, including:
- Set up the system to help collect data and analysis the data
- Keep maintain and upgrading the BI system to fulfill the new requests from studio.
- Review the data analysis requirements and plan for the data servers.

Experience and Qualifications
- Strong background in online game operations, with at least 3 years experience managing technical game operations for a massively multiplayer online game.
- At least 2 years experience in a project management role of some sort.
- Excellent communication skills, including full fluency in Chinese and at least written fluency in English, and strong writing ability.
- Good analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, occasionally under tight deadlines.
- Perform well under pressure or in a crisis, triaging and prioritizing issues appropriately and helping keep other team members focused on the work at hand.
- Previous experience operating across multiple territories in Asia/Pacific a strong plus.
- At least a bachelor’s degree in a related technical field, such as computer science or electrical engineering.
- Familiarity with databases.
