Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Shanghai, China

Reports to: KSFE Quality Manager

Direct Reports: None

Travel: approximately 60% of time within China.

JOB DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY:

Kee Safety Far East is the Kee Safety Group regional supply chain management business located in Shanghai China which is responsible for procuring a range of metal components for export to the UK, USA, Europe and the Middle East. The annual spend of $ 8M+ is growing rapidly. The business has recently started to market Kee Safety products in China, the growth of this part of the business together with the continued growth and importance of the supply chain management arm of the business mean that we need to strengthen the organization by appointing a new Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE).

The SQE will be reporting to the Quality manager of Kee Safety Far East with full responsibility for quality management of over 20 suppliers in the Far East region, most of them in mainland China.

The ideal candidate will have experience involved with product inspection and quality management in businesses which produce cast, machined and / or sheet metal parts for demanding export customers to support the premium brand position and the high shareholder returns of the Kee Safety Group.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

The SQE will:

? Work with the Quality Manager to ensure that Group technical and quality standards are achieved by suppliers through routine onsite inspection and audits.
? Review supplier inspection reports and ensure they are being provided and sent to customers on time.
? Work with the Quality Manager to ensure any products transferred to the China Supply Chain are done so in a structured and controlled manner.
? Research and develop new suppliers to meet the social responsibility, cost and quality expectations by projects assigned.
? Prepare and present regular, timely reports on quality performance metrics of existing suppliers.
? To keep abreast of changes and developments of existing suppliers.
? Perform specific tasks requested by the Supply Chain manager or the General Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

? Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University, in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline. Alternatively, a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree may be considered.

? Must have a minimum of 3-5 years proven success in supplier quality control.

? A good understanding of casting, machining and sheet metal forming processes.

? Previous experience in procurement or production of components or products for export to Europe and / or North America.

Skills and Abilities:

? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written as well as verbal).
? At minimum of level 6 in English language.
? Proactive mindset to improve quality assurance, develop and expand existing supplier network.
? Self-motivated, individual contributor and team player.
? A good working knowledge of MS Office (specifically Excel, Word and Outlook).
? Able to learn & adapt in a growing environment.
? Extensive travel is expected in this role throughout the Region which may require the person to work beyond the normal hours of duty.
