What is the main purpose of the job?
Steer the safety strategy within the China business to ensure that safety is elevated and embedded across all functions. Work closely with functional departments to guard our brand and ensure that our store teams and customers are not exposed to foreseeable risk. Develop and protect our Safety Culture across the organisation
What are the main Key Tasks & Activities?
1.Own and steer the Safety Strategy within the China business to ensure that safety is embedded across all functions. Contribute to the development of the strategic vision and strategy for safety within Costa
2.Develop relationships and work closely with functional departments to guard our brand and so that our teams and customers are not exposed to foreseeable risk
3.Prepare clear reports (including the monthly Dashboard) on the brand’s safety performance and activities
4.Food hygiene ratings maintain and update the Equity database for new stores and operational change
5.Manage all enquiries from and relating to the FDA and ensure Costa complies with all FDA regulations
6.Manage and advise on all safety related complaints using and giving expert advice
7.Improve and monitor quality of products being delivered into the stores from our suppliers
8.Positive involvement and participation in product development and innovation initiatives by working closely with the leaders and project teams to ensure that safety strategies are embedded into projects, initiatives and products.
9.Prepare, review and update policies and procedures on safety best practice, particularly store food safety. Target areas that score poorly in FDA inspections, BV audits and Costa Check Safety Excellence
10.Identify safety training needs for Operations Team, including ROD’s, AM’s, & SM’s. Work with relevant functions to design and facilitate learning strategies to improve knowledge and competence
11.Provide information and advice for the preparation of:
?Press statements prepared by the internal PR & Comms’ team to ensure that Brand reputation is not adversely affected.
?Safety related communications delivered by the functional teams.
12.Provide a link between Costa China & BV audit team, & NSF
13.Liaise and interface with the International Brand Protection Manager:
?To ensure that robust due diligence processes are in place that support Costa’s standards, CITP, and protect its safety culture
?To help to set safety related WINcard Audit targets, questions and guidance on how to pass
14.Ensure all that all new or updated applicable safety materials are provided in a manner suitable for use by our Franchise Partners
What Key Performance Indicators will be measured to evaluate success?
?Improvement in Food Hygiene Ratings
?Improvement in BV Audit scores
?Improvement in Costa Check scores
?Delivery of the Costa International Technical Policy
?Delivery of timely safety reporting
?Involvement in new innovation, initiatives and product development
?Contribution to new/updated safety training
?No FDA fines
Education, work experience,Knowledge, skills and abilities
?Bachelor’s Degree or above in food related field
?Experience in the food industry
?Familiar with laws, regulations and standards of Chinese food
?Good understanding of how the FDA works
