Job Description
1 This leader oversees merchandising team responsible for developing and cultivating vendor partnerships in order to meet current and future needs according to the product merchant's strategic direction of product categories; cooperation with sourcing teams to get the lower cost options at the most favorable terms and lead time and provide support that is required to achieve the total company financial metrics and goals.
2 Work with management team to set up ambitious and realistic targets in terms of merchandising development to meet business plans and agreed sales and profit targets for China office. Define the team organization, drive communication of the business vision and mission. Monitoring the implementation of the operation policies.
3 Collaborate closely with New York Office – Account Managers and Philippine office data team.
4 Playing a significant role in long term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence. An inspirational leader who excels in developing and motivating merchandiser teams in driving performance.
5 Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizations mission - specifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning.
6 Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the team, through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions.
7 Drive initiatives in the management team and organizationally that contribute to long term operational excellence.
8 Manage and monitor team performance and develop a collaborative, effective and efficient team who deliver on time with passion and conviction. Ensuring regular performance reviews with managers of each discipline and in turn their own teams
9 Coordinate and oversee the entire department and operations.
10 Strong sense of the industry trends and participation of the trade shows, conventions and seminars as appropriate or as directed.
Qualification:
1) Aggressive and strong drive and track-record of success with 10+ years in more general management experience in the trading firm, strong product knowledge on hard goods - fashion or fast fashion experience required with experience in home products being preferred.
2) Prior experience with retailers or large scale importers – relevant US market experience is strongly desired.
3) A good communicator with highly developed leadership capabilities
4) Must have strong relationship building skills.
5) Proven skills in business and operation management.
6) Demonstrated ability to work in a proactively diverse and inclusive organization.
7) Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
8) Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a staff team.
9) An ability to negotiate effectively and at the highest level together with excellent numeracy and literacy skills
10) Effective problem - solving and mediation skills.
11) Demonstrated ability to share skills and knowledge with others.
12) Proficiency with office computer equipment and software.
13) A demonstrated knowledge of the manufacturing process within consumer product organization
14) Fluency in Mandarin with strong command of English language is required – written and verbal
