Job Outline

Based in Shanghai reporting to the Regional Director – Asia and the Divisional Finance Director based in the UK Headquarter, the role is responsible within the Asia Region for all aspects of financial and management reporting & analysis, audit & tax compliance, budgeting & forecasting and maintenance of robust financial & internal controls. Responsible for Vendor Management, Quality and Compliance including the monitoring of performance, both internally and externally, and a continuous improvement . Working within the senior management team the role will also be involved in evaluating & implementing the strategic plans for the region, which are likely to include significant capital investments.

The key area of initial focus will be in China itself, but being a regional role there will be the requirement for some travel within Asia, particularly to Singapore and occasionally to UK.


Candidate Profile

· Graduate, professionally qualified accountant

· Minimum 3 years post qualification experience within either an internationally headquartered MNC (Europe, US or Australasia) or Big 4 accountancy practice

· Fluent in both spoken & written English & Mandarin (with Shanghainese an advantage)

· Commercially astute, able to interpret financial data & evaluate business proposals i.e. not just a “number cruncher”

· Excellent grasp of Chinese accounting & tax conventions and well versed in the Western approach

· Well-developed IT skills gained in an environment using integrated systems

· Experience of managing & developing small finance teams
