Job Description
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING – OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
As a MADE.com Product Quality Inspector you will be responsible for inspecting goods and communicating the result for many of the collections produced for MADE.com. You will inspect product as directed, by colleagues based in China or the UK office and you will be expected to communicate in a professional and informative manner and work in the best interests of MADE.com at all times.

Your inspections will take place at various stages in manufacturing, or immediately prior to shipment and your skills as an inspector will be essential in identifying defects and ensuring product quality meets given expectations.

You will be respectful of agreed MADE.com Quality Standards, tolerances, areas of compliance and best practices. You will maintain these as part of the inspection process, ensuring at all times that product quality meets with agreed specifications and expectations at all stages prior to shipment. During the inspection process you are to ensure the goods checked fulfill MADE.com requirements for the product packaging, labeling, testing, as per established standards and guidelines. In all cases, issues are to be processed promptly, as directed, responding to problems with authority and in line with quality processes in order to achieve a positive outcome.


You will ensure that all products within your area of responsibility are quality inspected according to MADE.com standards, technical specification documents, and/or gold sealed samples (or a gold seal sample report), and are fit-for-purpose. Inspections are to be in accordance with the quality inspection plan (determining the inspection type) as agreed by the Quality Department Coordinator (QDC) or Quality Technician.

Your role as an Inspector will include:
? Preparation for Inspection:
You are to follow the inspection plan as communicated by the Quality Department Coordinator (QDC) and subsequently confirm travel arrangements with the supplier prior to your visit. You are to ensure you have all the essential documents and tools in order to carry out your role effectively and to ensure the reports are completed with all supporting evidence and with the right level of detail.

? Raw Material Inspection (RMI) and In-line Inspection (ILI):
Using agreed product specifications you will inspect goods during the manufacturing process verifying whether part finished goods are acceptable, or not. Your findings will be entered into a report and actions taken.

? Container inspections:
Prior to the shipment of goods, and where agreed, you will carry out a container inspection to ascertain the condition and suitability of the container. Once evaluated findings will be entered into a report and further actions agreed.

? Final inspection:
If any improvements needed or reject, then check with the supplier for action plan and implementation progress, or even re-inspection.

? Re-Inspections:
You are to ensure, upon conducting a follow-up/re-inspection, that all previously identified problems and defects have been eliminated and all agreed improvements have been implemented by the supplier/factory to guarantee better quality in production.

? Communication:
Good quality and timely communication is essential. All reports must be written with the correct and expected level of detail, and must be submitted within 24 hours of the inspection being completed. It is essential the reports, and accompanying email, are completed within the agreed deadline and sent through to colleagues on order to allow, where necessary, subsequent action to be taken. In addition, if, whilst inspecting goods to agreed specifications and with reference to established MADE.com documentation, you become aware of an area for improvement please discuss this issue immediately with your line manager and subsequently react as directed.

? Supplier relations:
You shall work with supplier to support the improvements needed to eliminate any agreed problem/defects, ensuring issues are not replicated and corrective actions are taken. You will follow up the improvement or action plan if implemented in production and ensure the supplier and MADE.com colleagues are fully aware of any issues you encounter. Support suppliers in achieving and fulfilling Made.com Quality, Ethical and Environmental requirements, by discussing any areas of improvement which you have noted with your line manager, so that these points can be included in a Corrective Action Plan.
