JOB TITLE: Content Manager
REPORTS TO: Head of Content Acquisition, EMIS
DEPARTMENT: EMIS
LOCATION: Shanghai, China
Summary of Primary Role:
The Content Manager is responsible for identifying and satisfying customers’ information needs for the relevant regions as defined . This is achieved by maintaining and developing solid professional relationships with the existing network of data providers, researching potential content opportunities, approaching and building relationships with new partners.
The Content Manager will be responsible for defining and delivering the content strategy for each country, identifying the content types for which acquisition is needed and is responsible for product revenue, monitoring and analysing the profitability of data investments and managing the allocated budget.
The position requires a good knowledge of the functionality, content and other aspects of EMIS products, as well as a strong understanding of the marketplace. The Content Manager will maintain a positive and productive dialogue with internal and external clients & data providers.
Key Responsibilities:
? Develop and document a content acquisition strategy for your region which is consistent with company goals and meets defined revenue targets. You should consider clients’ needs and requests, content gaps by products and competition trends.
? Maintain current relations with data providers and assure contract terms are observed during the contractual term.
? Supervise payments to data providers and assure timely receipt of usage reports on a monthly/quarterly basis.
? Accountable for maintaining profitable service content by assuring the ratio between attributable revenue & data costs remains below 30% in each of the countries covered.
? Prepare ROI documentation for new content, when needed; document and support proposed acquisitions with clear profitability assumptions.
? Manage approved budgets for content acquisitions (mainly applicable for Category A countries) in order to meet client requirements of content gaps by content types.
? Contribute to the budgeting and re-forecasting process and own and manage publications and sources.
? Review of publication usage for identifying low-usage / high-cost content and replace where needed.
? Create new publications/data providers under internal web tools, assure proper categorisation settings for the new content, integrate the content and liaise with relevant staff for future maintenance of new content.
? Proper understanding of internal taxonomy.
? Liaise effectively with the Sales and Customer Service departments to enable a complete understanding of clients’ needs, trends and requirements and ensure that content strategy meets these needs
? Assure good communication with other product departments (Content Production, Editorial, Company Database and Data Processing), providing all needed information regarding new content in order to allow them to properly update the content into the service.
? Liaise proactively with the Marketing department to ensure they have up-to-date information for the marketing materials they prepare (brochures, sales tool kit, etc.) and social media content
? Perform product demonstrations, as necessary, at trade shows, industry events and client/prospect visits.
? Work with the commercial and marketing teams to ensure the systematic collection, documentation and analysis of customer and prospect feedback and, where appropriate, ensure that this feedback is reflected in future product releases.
? Stay abreast of market conditions/trends and provide sales and marketing teams with information on competitor activities and new technologies.
? Identify and respond to market developments to ensure new and existing products are in line with customer segment requirements.
? Other duties as requested by your immediate manager.
Qualifications
? Bachelor degree (preferred subjects are Economics or Business & Finance, but any suitable experience will be considered)
? Excellent command of Mandarin and English
? Good understanding of online content environment
? Working knowledge of the financial and economic markets.
? Good knowledge of requested country coverage, their economic environment and information market
? Experience working in business to business information services
Skills, knowledge and abilities:
? Ability to work well in a team and strong organizational skills.
? Excellent negotiation skills.
? Good interpersonal and communication skills.
? Independent and be able to work under pressure and tight schedules.
