Purpose
This is a fulltime position senior research scientist with C-R&I function in RIC Shanghai of E2P2L EcoFormulation Lab. The job exists as E2P2L needs a senior research scientist to conduct project. Main task are: Leading projects related to functional coating formulation to design, synthesize and characterize new products and delivering results to Business Unit Costumers and Growth Initiative from Corporate R&I.

Responsibilities
? Responsible to instruct and document projects in collaboration with GBUs, Growth Initiative, other WW Advanced labs or external partners such as institutes/universities.
? Responsible to plan the research programs of his/her projects. He/She will communicate such plans both to Solvay management and external partners.
? Responsible for the execution of the research program and ensure the achievement of Solvay objectives on the projects.
? Responsible for the lab work and lab equipment set-up to develop new products or applications using his/her physical chemistry competences and experience in complex fluid technologies and coatings.
? Master existing physical chemistry and organic/inorganic chemistry technologies related to his/her projects.
? Coordination and management of WW Solvay projects from ideation to project phase in WEGO (internal software to manage our projects).
? Close collaboration with GBUs/Growth Initiative/Advanced Labs staff along with collaboration with external partners.
? Contacts with tollers, suppliers, WW research and application labs, HSE & business teams.
? Supervise the lab work of junior scientists, PhD student or interns.
? Good communication skills (oral or written) and open mind to share his/her expertise within Solvay.
? Capabilities to think “out of the box” to propose differentiating approaches versus competition.


 Profile
? PhD Degree in physical chemistry or interfacial chemistry, with a first professional experience of 5-10 years in industrial coatings (functional coating is really a plus).
? Deep experienced on formulation (hardener/resin/additives/solvent and coating process (characterizations as well) of industrial coatings, especially PU and epoxy top coat, gel coat… is strongly required for this open position.
? Good understanding of physical chemical principle related to surface modification.
? Good knowledge and some experience in analytics.
? Good experience on how to fine tune/control the wettability of coatings and functional coatings. Propose and investigate new ideas and innovative solutions in line with the strategies and objectives of the costumers.
? Good team player and communication skills. Be able to issue high level quality report.
? Results orientation, scientific and curiosity mindset, proactivity and team spirit.
? Fluent English skill both in oral and written.
