DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Description
Mechanical Design Supervisor

Core Responsibilities:
* Generate math data and drawings utilizing Unigraphics, Catia or other customer-defined software programs as necessary.
+ Follow CAD and modeling standards.
* Maintain proficiency with software packages such as: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project and available relevant CAD packages required for the efficient execution of one’s job.
+ Utilize analysis tools to fine tune and tweak designs before tooling commences.
* Design products utilizing engineering principles. Apply best practices, lessons learned and innovative design techniques to achieve a reliable product at a competitive price. Meet or exceed customer expectations.
+ Strive to simplify the design, make it easy to manufacture, mistake proof, attempt to anticipate areas of large variation and attempt to maximize robust design. Design environmentally friendly where possible.
* Starting at program award; understand and apply GD&T, conduct tolerance stack up analyses (linear, RMS or Monte Carlo as required) as necessary throughout the development process.
+ Generate professional stack-up reports that can be easily read and understood by all. Make design changes as necessary based on stack up analysis. Keep documentation in well-organized filing system.
* Confer with other engineering team and cross functional team members on a frequent basis to ensure all aspects of the design are coming together seamlessly.
+ All mechanical changes, no matter how minor, shall be explained sufficiently to electrical and software engineering before execution. In addition, it is important to consult with Manufacturing Eng, QA and Materials/Purchasing and Program Management.
* Generate and check necessary engineering documentation required for material procurement and quality assurance of products designed. All documentation to be controlled through Engineering Change Notice (ECN) procedure.
+ Drawings (assembly and component), specifications etc. Release of models & drawings to occur according to agreed timelines.
* Maintain intimate working knowledge of program master timeline and its relation to engineering deliverables. Follow Product Development Process and generate necessary documentation to support the successful execution of Phase Sign Off’s.
* Initiate and co-operate in cost reduction, VA/VE activities.
* Support production floor activities.
+ Support failure analysis, design improvements and quality issues driven from customers and the production floor.

Additional Responsibilities:
* Aid or take active role in program management activities.
* Team player, leader.
* Customer interface, when required.
+ Expected to conduct ones self professionally. Travel on an as-required basis.
* Other duties as assigned by Manager.
* Pursue professional development through training, solicit feedback on performance and utilize constructive criticism towards improvement.
* Participate in the building and construction of assemblies in prototype stages. Assist in coordinating builds and shipments to support the team and the customer.
+ Serves to provide feedback to the designer to improve the design.
* Maintain CAD software (upgrades, installation) and system(s) to support its use. Utilize IT as necessary.
* Abide by all terms and conditions of employment contract (Offer of Employment Letter).
* Development of intellectual property and completion of ‘Record of Invention(s)’/Patent Applications.

QULIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES (Education, experience, soft skills, preferred):
* Bachelor or Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
* 4+ years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer or Supervisor with a large company
* Expertise in CATIA (solid and generative shape & surface design) and FEA tools
* Expertise in designing products in sheet metal, plastic, die-casting, etc.,
* Disciplined in design and verification methodologies.
* Perform under pressure and a positive attitude is mandatory
* Good problem solving skills.
* Good communication skills and able to work in a cross-functional environment.
* Good ability to speak & understand English..
