The Challenge
1. Provide technical leadership by supporting accounts on Application Development and technical Service. Develop relationships in accounts with product managers, designers but also at Marketing & Sales level to maximize success of new product developments. Collaborate with regional and global sales and marketing team regarding new product development and follow-up on projects at key accounts. Support sales objectives of both direct and indirect accounts as well as achieve milestones of application development initiatives.

The Position
1. Plans, organizes, leads and controls application development and technical service activities in China region.
2. Prioritize business opportunities in new markets and manage projects to develop new concepts to sell into these markets to create sustainable business.
3. Maintains high-level contact with key accounts and effectively present the value proposition of our product offering in the different applications.
4. Effectively communicate and coordinate account activity across global cross-functional teams including Sales, R&D, Finance, Legal, Operations and Marketing.
5. Take the lead within global key accounts and account teams; multicultural experience.
6. Manage fabric and yarn developments with our partner mills (spinner, weavers and knitters).
7. Move business opportunities forward by supporting accounts on the application development and technical service.
8. Reports on a monthly basis status overview per account and proposed path forward. Develops and implements account strategy
9. Linking pin between market and R&D regarding trends and future product requirements.
10. Support and participate at tradeshows.
11. The Performance Apparel segment is active in the field of Outdoor Sports Apparel, Accessories, Footwear and Denim. It is a very dynamic market with a diverse value chain from designers, producer, brand owners, distributors and end users Global product developments with multiple parties in multiple locations. Product positioning of branded products versus low(er) cost alternatives. Promotion of Lightweight strength, sustainability, and quality as key value drivers. Hybrid of application development, technical service, but also combined with marketing and sales disciplines where required.
12. Technical expert with technical textiles background or knowledge who sets directions and priorities developing a regional plan and provides guidance on translating global marketing strategy into regional/local strategy
13. Team player who inspires, motivates and challenges the teams and acts as a good counselor and fosters a constructive feedback culture (role model).
14. Customer leader who thoroughly understands customer’s needs, establishes privileged relationships and actively influences their innovation and purchasing decisions.
15. Energetic driver who pushes himself/herself and her/his team to deliver ambitious results, is perseverant, well organized, and also communicates convincingly internally and externally
16. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

The Ideal
1. Technically savvy, experience with high performance textiles. A passion or affinity with Outdoor Sports would be a plus.
2. Willing and capable to act both as application development and technical support and were applicable and possible support Business Development Manager on business development / promotion and sales at the same time.
3. 3-5 years experience with application development or technical service.
4. Preferably (technical) textile background.
5. Fluently speaking English; German or French would be an asset
6. Ability to service and influence multiple positions in the value chain
7. Act independently and strategically plans account development
8. Effectively communicates and engages audience
9. Ideally residence within proximity of DSM China HQ in Shanghai or wiling to relocate.
10. Willingness to travel (30-50%)
