职位描述：

POSITION TITLE: Senior Chemist
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
DEPARTMENT: NSFST Shanghai
GROUP: Chemistry Laboratory
REPORTS TO: Site Manager-Shanghai

BASIC PURPOSE: Independently perform and develop advanced analytical methods and techniques.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Accurately prepare, pre-treat, analyze and interpret data for chemical contaminants and components including independent interpretation of multi-component analytical data.
2. Perform all applicable corporate and laboratory quality control procedures, including but not limited to, control charts, sample spikes, internal and external replicate testing, blanks and controls producing totally defensible results.
3. Meet turnaround time commitments and initiate new procedures to increase efficiency.
4. Perform method development as needed, including method validation and project tracking.
5. Participate in cross-training all levels of laboratory staff in lab policies, techniques, methods and calculation/data interpretation policies/procedures.
7. Act as liaison with internal and external clients.
8. Understand and follow established quality assurance and chain-of-custody procedures.
9. Prepare all records (data, notebooks, and instrument books) in a timely, thorough, and neat manner.
10. Take action to correct all QA problems and potential delays, communicating the issue as appropriate.
12. Maintain instruments and equipment in proper operating conditions
13. Assure adherence to the safety and health policies and procedures.
14. Perform other duties as requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and four (4) years work experience OR a Masters degree in a related science and two (2) years work experience OR a Ph.D. and no experience.
2. Experience with standard or approved wet and instrumental techniques for chemical analyses.
3. Good written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in Mandarin and English (Certificate of CET-6).
4. Knowledge and experience with laboratory QA/QC plans, manuals, and procedures.
5. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
6. Understanding of, and experience with, laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
7. Familiarity with instrumentation for chemical analyses, e.g. AA, IC, ICP/MS, ICAP, LC, LC/MS, GC, and GC/MS.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Post graduate degree in a physical science (preferably chemistry).
2. Work experience with a wide variety of analytical methods for various matrices (trace and non-trace).
3. Experience with method development/validation.
4 National Qualification Certificate by AQSIQ (全国进出口商品检验检测鉴定机构从业人员资格证书)
5. Experience in the area of toy testing.
6. Specific experience in the analysis of dietary supplements, foods, vitamins and/or pharmaceuticals.
7 Familiarity with plant and natural product profiles (chromatographic, TLC, etc.)



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Moderate physical effort required (ability to lift and empty solvent or reagent containers or move 10 – 15 Kg from one area to another).
2. Standing for long periods of time is necessary periodically.
3. Working with various organic solvents, chemical analytes, reagents, acids, and bases is necessary.
4. Safety glasses must be worn at all times in lab areas.
