职位描述
Key Purpose of the Job:
- Build and lead the Pentland Asia Soft Goods
technical team. - Accountable for effective Garment Development,
Costing, Engineering and Quality Assurance.
Needs to Do:
- Leads regional teams in Asia ensuring consistency of application of standards and processes through the product commercialisation process.
- Responsible for technical advice into product development process ensuring Brand’s product requirements for fit, construction, quality and costing are met.
- Manages and enhances technical specification process to support effective product development translation across the UK headquarters, Asia regiona offices, and vendors.
- Manages capability of vendors in product development and quality improvement through the processes of product re-engineering, margin improvements and shortening lead times. Identifies
root cause and applies continuous improvement methodology. - Establishes best practices and standardizes materials, colours, and processes to deliver product quality and consistency across the vendor base.
- Working with Materials teams - drives and monitors quality testing approach and process of new materials and finished products during the development and mass production stages.
Specifies and establishes appropriate types of testing, and analyzes test results with recommendations. Ensures required testing is completed in a timely manner in line with seasonal critical paths and updates relevant parties accordingly. - Standardizes new product specification format and new factory evaluation standards.
- Working with Costing analysts - Provides apparel material’s technical costing as necessary for guide in decision making of relevant parties.
- Responsible for ensuring product compliance to relevant legal standards.
- Drives, monitors and reports key performance indicators for vendors.
- Identifies possible first-to-market opportunities through technical development in fit and construction
- Identifies and feedback market information and opportunities “on the ground” to relevant UK and Asia leadership teams.
- Drive QA approaches and system implementation in assigned factories. Take lead of root causes analysis for market return & compliant and provide corrective action plans where necessary.
- Be proactive in applying garment construction and manufacturing processes re-engineering to maximise cost benefits and improve margin.
- Drive key vendor self-approval initiatives, i.e. tech packages creation, Certified QC program etc., to
improve development lead-times and efficiencies. - Drive, monitor and report vendors’ key performance indicators, i.e. Best Practice, Monthly Quality KP, costing etc., to support vendor Sourcing Strategies in different sourcing regions/countries .
- Monitor vendor compliance to CR and challenge non-compliance where necessary. Work with all vendors to encourage, monitor and facilitate vendors’ continuous improvement along with Pentland CR manager.
- Monitor performance of direct reports by providing leadership, coaching and support as necessary to meet individual development goals.
Needs to Know:
At least 8 years’ experience in manufacturing and technical engineering experience (construction/ pattern making, grading, sewing and materials) in achieving product cost and margin
targets as well as improving fit in the relevant product category.
In-depth pattern making, sewing technique,technology and manufacturing processes with specific reference to driving out cost and improving fit for the relevant product category.
Experienced in Development critical path ensuring key milestones are met.
Solid vendor evaluation experience in terms of both capability and degree of compliance to corporate responsibility standards with specific reference to Asia and other developing countries.
Organised and structured with willingness to work on own initiative.
Good product line management skills.
Good analytical skills, problem solving skills and attention to detail.
Can-do attitude, while willing and able to come up with practical solutions when problems arise.
Ability to self-manage, prioritise and multi-task.
Ability to work both independently & as part of a team.
Experienced in working effectively across multiple functions in a global business.
Strong communications skills in a multi-cultural environment.
PC literate: Microsoft Word and Excel.
Good command of spoken and written English.
Needs to be:
- Graduated from textile engineering/garment
design background - Minimum 10 years’ experience working with major international brands
in the Garment development, engineering and quality assurance with
managerial experience - Frequent domestic and oversea travels
