Position Overview
EA Popcap Shanghai is seeking 3d Environment Artist who focus on modeling for a Need For Speed title. You’ll create a large number of diverse models, and will be working alongside designers, artists, animators and engineers to create highly quality models. Are you up for the challenge?
Responsibilities
- Synthesize concept art and block models into final game environments.
- Conceptualize, design, and create game environments.
- Collaborate with concept artists to revise and improve designs.
- Create a variety of models (structures, terrain, props) from concept.
- Create clean, lower-resolution game topology, UV’s, and surfacing.
- Provide specifications and written feedback to external vendors who will be supplementing creation efforts.
- Work collaboratively with game designers and technical artists to understand and interpret level design requirements within the engine’s technical limitations.
- Support the Art Director in the overall vision for the game while taking ownership on environment zones and props as assigned.
- Actively communicate progress, risks and challenges to key stakeholders within the team.
Required Skills and Experience
- 3+ years or more experience.
- You are a gifted artist with exceptional game modeling experience and proven ability to model photorealistic assets.
- Strong knowledge of different architecture styles and rules.
- Strong understanding of lighting and scene composition.
- High proficiency with creating 3D detailed models to scale with accuracy.
- A resume and portfolio that reflects above.
- Detail oriented, organized, and able to meet project deadlines.
- Good aptitude for problem solving and self-starting with the ability to work with minimal direction.
- Team player with a tremendous attitude.
- Expert ZBrush, Maya, & Photoshop. Knowledge of Mari, Substance and other surfacing software.
- Work with level designers to ensure solid gameplay on the levels.
- Experience working in a PBR pipeline is a plus.
- Experience working on level/environment is a plus.
- An avid gamer is a plus.
- Previous AAA game development experience as plus.
