职位描述：
Job Title: Lab Engineer, Performance Material Research Center (PMRC)
Business Group/Unit: DSM China Limit
Reports to: Lab Supervisor, Performance Material Research Center

The Challenge
? Start up and work on PMRC processing/analytic instruments and equipment, especially injection molding and thermo-analysis related instruments and equipment, and provide data and reports to support primarily research projects executed by PMRC scientists for various DSM performance material businesses.
? Maintain effective and efficient operation of corresponding lab area to safeguard the implementation of lab work activities, with the support of campus operation team.
? Select new instruments or equipment and enlarge lab area to expand PMRC lab capabilities and capacity, and build up related knowledge and experience to upgrade work capabilities, to support the growth of R&D activities.
? Technical: Knowledge on molding and thermo-analysis related equipment, processing and applications of engineering plastics and/or other performance materials
? Internal network: PMRC scientists, RDSC/ADC colleagues, QA lab and technology DEPJ, Global R&T,
? External network: lab instruments and equipment suppliers, agents/distributors, and local relevant labs etc.


The Position

Key responsibility:
? Implement safety measures to guarantee work safety in all lab related work activities
? Engage in various types of lab work items, especially injection molding and thermo-analysis related on engineering plastics materials and/or other performance materials to achieve correct results and produce reliable reports
? Formulate and amend required documents to facilitate the related work activities
? Maintain the functional operation of the assigned lab area via coordinated safety, maintenance and logistics activities etc. to safeguard the implementation of lab work activities
? Work on the continual improvement of work activities on injection molding, thermo-analysis related and other lab items to meet new R&D requirements
? Cooperate with relevant parties to facilitate injection molding, thermo-analysis, and other related activities

Authorities:
? Technical decision on the formulation of lab work documents such as SOP’s etc. and selection of test methods.
? Be authorized to check and revise test data and reports
? Direct communication with requestors on lab work requirements and result explanation

Projects or Special Assignment
? Technical selection of suitable lab equipment/instruments
? Technical input to lab design for PMRC lab expansion/modification

Complexity of the job
? It is a big challenge how to meet the demanding requests from PMRC scientists as well as from other colleagues for high speed and high quality via maximally utilizing the available resources in PMRC with optimized selection of items, methods, and conditions, etc.
? It is another big challenge how to meet requestors’ demands in speed and quality while ensuring work safety.
? While PMRC lab is in Shanghai, it has to become an integral part of global R&D lab network to serve research projects both in China and other regions in the world, which requires pro-active and effective communications in order to solve problems in work request implementation etc.


The Ideal
? University/college education, preferably majored in polymer science/ engineering or material science/engineering
? Minimum of two years’ experience in processing and testing of engineering plastics like polyamide and polyester. Has basic knowledge on EP material processing, properties, and applications
? Technical knowledge: Material testing, processing, analysis, and synthesis as well as standards etc.
? Workable spoken and written English and Mandarin
? Actual injection molding working experience is a prerequisite. Should be skillful in operation of various molding related equipment, with good judgment and problem-solving capabilities
? Experience in extrusion is preferred.
