JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Industry 4.0

Reports to: Director Industry 4.0, China

Subordinate: 0

Working location: Shanghai, China

Job Purpose:

1. The position will provide support to process engineering and manufacturing teams throughout China and facilitate the application of new equipment, technology and manufacturing systems within plants aligned to Industry 4.0 / Made in China 2025 targets.
2. He/she will be actively involved in identifying projects / capable equipment suppliers to make a step change in our automation capability across Adient globally.

Responsibilities:

1. Work with I4.0 Director to identify and execute a roadmap for Adient China leadership in manufacturing capabilities in the I4.0 / MIC2025 workspace.
2. Oversee and work with each joint venture / global team to continuously implement, optimize and standardize manufacturing processes using latest automation technology with regard to quality, delivery, safety and costs.
3. Identify the saving opportunities, develop and propose the action plan to reduce the manufacturing costs by automation from CAR to implementation with our joint ventures.
4. Release all approved projects through regional / global BOS documentation as required.
5. Maintain strong links to global team and gain alignment for new projects.
6. Manage and maintain an approved suppliers list by technology in conjunction with purchasing and global teams driving cost efficient supply base.
7. Track quality, delivery and cost with China equipment suppliers for export business to other Adient regions.
8. Actively work on supplier development for high potential equipment suppliers in China for automation and Industry 4.0.
9. Analyzes problem areas, i.e., unsafe conditions, equipment downtime, unstable quality of output and take immediate action.
10. Support new Industry 4.0 project / automation equipment launch at Adient location from concept through to delivery of approved business case.

Requirements:

1. Manufacturing Engineering degree or above, such as mechanical or industrial.
2. 10+ years’ experience in high volume manufacturing environment with knowledge of assembly and metals techniques as priority.
3. Strong knowledge in equipment, solid experience in tooling, fixtures selection, purchasing and installation is mandatory. Experience in project management is a plus.
4. Knowledge of Industry 4.0 and Made in China 2025 technology.
5. Awareness in cost analysis, assembly time calculation, manufacturing feasibility study, safety, maintenance.
6. Strong leadership and communication skills, experience in dealing with JV is highly preferred.
7. Energetic, highly motivated and self-confident, excellent presentation skills is preferred.
8. Fluent in both Mandarin and English.
