Sr. Electrical Engineer
Opportunity overview
As a member of China Engineering Team, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be a key contributor chartered with ensuring our electrical designs maintain production yields and cost targets. This will be largely executed through your active participation in solving engineering challenges brought to you through sustaining group. Example of sustaining activity: You will work closely with our Bedford and Far East Operations team in addressing printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) yield issues and single-source components. You will lead electrical failure analysis of factory and customer units as well as research/recommend/test and implement cost reduction improvements. Your responsibility will also be to champion any lessons learned from sustaining and propagate them back into extended engineering community. You will have an opportunity to do so through participation in design reviews of new product development and you will help those teams with your sustaining experience. Over time you will leverage your seniority and experience to provide technical support and mentorship to less experienced and newly brought on board electrical engineers in China.

What you need to know:

Qualifications:

? Deep understanding of electrical engineering principles in both analog and digital domains as they apply to high-volume consumer electronic devices, with the ability to leverage this understanding to quickly isolate circuit faults.
? Circuit design and analysis experience with infrared emitter and detectors, DCDC power conversion circuits (1..to 30W) , power switching semiconductors and brushed motor drivers
? Hands-on know-how with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters, soldering irons, and other common electrical engineering tools used during PCBA testing and measurement
? Experience with embedded system/microcontroller concepts, including the following: GPIOs, PWM, ADCs, DACs, and serial data interfaces (I2C, UART, SPI)
? BS in Electrical Engineering
? 7-10 years of relevant experience
? Proven ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects
? Driven, passionate developer who can work independently in a team environment and enjoys the challenges of delivering solutions.
? Ability to travel to US headquarters 2-3 times a year
? Ability to travel through South China within 2 -3 hrs driving distance from Guangzhou roughly once a week
? Schematic/layout design experience for PCBs
? Fluent in English

Desirable Qualifications:

? MS in Electrical Engineering
? Altium Designer for PCBs
? PTC Windchill PLM tool experience
? Familiarity with Linux command line
? Familiarity with Python
