GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for driving work plans and providing technical direction to a team responsible for the resolution of escalated field issues and new technology evaluations. Manages engineers, and may also oversee other team leaders, that perform multiple and varied tasks and specialties. Participates in long range planning and is involved in the development of operational goals. Creates schedules, work plans, and cost guidelines that are consistent with company standards. Often plays a pro-active role in developing and applying new approaches to technical problems, qualification of products from partners and departmental operations. Participates in the modification, development, and implementation of company practices and policies that affect employees. Regularly interacts with senior management to establish broad-based direction related to several functional areas, groups, and/or customers. Requires thorough technical and operational knowledge within area of responsibility. Typically manages teams in multiple disciplines. May have budgetary responsibility.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Provides innovative solutions to complex problems, communicates progress toward project goals and the resolution of customer issues. Develops functional processes and operational policies within the area managed.
? Requires the ability to influence others to achieve results, demonstrated ability to collaborate within organization and cross functionally. Skilled at reaching the appropriate resolution in many varied situations, with consideration for internal and external relationships.
? Expert in all necessary engineering processes and tools within technical or functional area. Ability to conceptualize and self-initiate solutions to complex problems.
? Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, ability to coach/mentor individual contributors and team leaders.
? Well developed negotiation and presentation skills, for technical and non technical audiences. Interacts with customers to explain issues and plans for resolution.
? Develops and provides challenging yet appropriate assignments, evaluates work, communicates progress toward career development and goals. Assists in developing and communicating organization vision and strategic direction. Accountable for HR processes and actions.
? Responsible for implementing operational and strategic policies and directives and for sharing information with related groups/projects. Interfaces with senior management to report on project and status of resolving escalated field issues.
