SENIOR PRODUCT MANAGER- CHINA/ASIA PACIFIC
? POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for strategic planning and management of new category development for PMI’s private label business in Asia Pacific region. This position will manage the development, selection and utilization of products to meet customer and consumer needs and stage product offerings to maximize revenue and profit.

? ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Managing Product Development (PD) team with specific focus on New Product Development (NPD) in terms of:
o Long term Product Strategy
o Short term product map
o Managing the execution to ensure on-time launch
           
? Direct PD team on seasonal merchandise proposal:
              o Addition of new products
              o Derivations of existing product
              o Adaptations/new uses of existing products
              o Elimination of low selling or un-profitable product

? Annually and seasonally work with business analyst to prepare category analysis to identify product segments that will provide PMI with the greatest opportunity for growth. Provide a ‘category point of view’ that will obtain profitable, unique and when appropriate, patented opportunities for the company.

? Trends – Become educated on and understand emerging macro and category trends. Meet with clients prior to seasonal kick off to probe and understand new business initiatives

? Competition – Understand competitor’s product, brand positioning, price, promotions, channels of distribution, strengths and weaknesses.

? Consumer Market Research - Synthesize market research findings to gain consumer insights into new market segments or product categories

? Sell Through analysis – Compile and analyze customer sell through information. Understand internal and external factors that impact selling.

? PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Sitting/Standing/Walking: Approximately 65% of time is spent working at a desk. Approximately 15% is spent moving around work areas, balance of time approximately 20% is spent on market walking and traveling.
Speaking/Hearing: Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers and outside agencies, by telephone and in person.
Vision: Ability to effectively use a computer screen and interpret printed materials, memos and other appropriate paperwork.
Lifting/Carrying: Ability to transport files and supplies.
Stooping/Kneeling: Ability to access files and supplies.
Reaching/Handling: Ability to input information into computer systems and retrieve and work with appropriate paperwork, equipment and supplies.


? PROFICIENCIES
1. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone.
2. Outstanding presentation skills
3. Solid word processing and computer database skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & etc.
4. Good personal skills with the ability to effectively work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
5. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
6. Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
7. Strong analytical ability with active listening skills.
8. Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
10. Willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
11. Ability to study and apply new information.
12. Possess a work ethic that includes neatness and punctuality.

? EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
? 8 plus year experience in strategic planning and management of New Product Development, merchandising experience with internationally recognized brands
? Solid knowledge of Asia Pacific market in terms of overall consumer behaviors and trends
? Industrial Design, graphics knowledge is a plus
? Experienced with retail product development by season and promotion
? English and Mandarin Chinese language proficiency
? International travel with no visa restriction is preferred
? Willing to be based in Shanghai, China
