Position Description
-Product Development and Project Management
--Plan, manage and report multiple concurrent hardware, software and firmware life cycle development projects for video security solutions
--Develop and implement local and global new product development processes and infrastructure for internal developed products and OEM
--Ensure the successful release of high quality products and solutions within budget, schedule, and scope definitions
--Continuously improvement of processes and procedures in engineering
--Ensure adequate development coverage for all projects through managing the creation of development strategies and plans, ensuring that these are reviewed by product management
--Ongoing creation and development metrics
--Identify and execute infrastructure needs - lab space, new building
--Liaise with other design locations to ensure project success for inter-site projects
--Communicate project status and staffing issues to the Senior Director on a weekly basis
-Team Management and Development
--Staff development and performance management for all engineering staff
--Establish local Architect team and work with global stakeholders to execute simultaneous global and local projects
--Provide strategic direction for the engineering department including establishment of a vision and mission to lead the teams, advise on technology choices, and recommend organizational and process improvement plans to continually improve productivity
--Responsible for weekly engineering team communications.
--Develop direct reports and high potential talent management
--Develop long term resourcing plans for the engineering department
--Manage staff performance and development through the Performance Matters Process, providing project objectives for engineering Staff
--Work with HR on recruitment and retention of talents
-Communication with higher management and cross-functional managers
--Work with Sr. Director on managing, allocating and maintaining of annual budget
--Represent and be the voice of Engineering in the local Shanghai Leadership team. Align and ensure Engineering voice in matrix China organization
--Work with local stakeholders to develop and grow the Shanghai business including mapping of local objectives into Engineering goals
--Liaise with other cross functional department managers and work in matrix organization (China GM & global stakeholders) to ensure adequate review and stakeholder "buy-in" to development projects
Duties & Responsibilities
-Mainly responsible for Sandwich Panel or White Appliance market.
-Lead a small sales team.
-Manage to offer the most reasonable technical solution to customers, pricing and margins according to agreed aims.
-Develop and maintain the good and long-term relationship with a number of key-account customers and identify potential new business opportunities.
-Pro-active support during the preparation of offers / quotations in line with customer's needs and specifications, participate international tender.
-Record, analyze, report and administer according to company procedure.
-Communicate and cooperate internally and externally by using appropriate methods to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships.
-Support local marketing activities, report the market information and insight to the competitors.
Position Requirements
-A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent relevant degree)
-Solid understanding of effective software development methods and processes, Thorough and deep experience with life cycle development processes and tools. Familiarity with bug tracking software - identifying, reporting and tracking. Understanding of the requirements for development and engineering testing
-Experience in project and program planning tools and techniques, Experience in the production of design documents and requirements documents for software, hardware and firmware products, Familiarity with Six Sigma and Agile approaches desirable
-Experience in creating the definition of software requirements to ensure their ability to be measured would be an advantage
-Thorough experience of working to a software development Quality Management System
-Experience in growing small local team to multi-department teams including leading and developing managers, staff development and performance management. Experience in performing scalability and performance development would be an advantage
-Experience participating and leading cross functional global projects including interfacing to hardware development, software development, firmware development, project management, product management, Continuing Engineering, operations and other engineering functions globally
-Influencing Skills especially with local and global key stakeholders. Experience in making recommendations to senior management regarding software product's readiness for release
-Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
-Experience working for global distributed company preferably experience with North American based security company
-6-10 years sales experience in plastics machinery or other industrial capital goods field, or experienced in Refrigerator manufacturing industry.
-Proven track record of independent management of a business segment or production line.
-Excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator, both in Chinese and English or
-German language.
-Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel
