Purpose:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) for Catalysis are responsible for managing existing customers and developing a growth strategy focused on existing business and new business opportunities for Mixed Oxide, Alumina, fuel additives, and Chemical catalyst materials in the automotive industry with China-based customers.
Responsibilities:
? On-going visits independently or jointly with sales & technical teams, to customers and to potential customers and any relevant key players to promote our solutions and capacity to develop Sales, and to understand and anticipate their needs short to long term.
? Propose, promote and accompany, internally and with customers, the development of Solvay product from the idea to the customer validation at industrial scale.
? Identify new business opportunities and follow-up (meetings, samples, evaluations, validations, technology deployments).
? Act as a project manager for the validation of new material at customers according to Global Market Manager strategy. This includes strong collaboration with the team of innovation, development, Industrial, Sales.
? Solving issues by decision making and ability to build consensus and federate multiple stakeholders.
? Lead promotion of new technologies to customers and with local authorities (Beijing MEP, Chinese MEP), professional associations (CVEC, CATARC/SwARC).Participate to dedicated external events (Tech Days, shows) and conferences (AVECC, China SAE…).
? Build customer intimacy with identified key decision makers. Maintain close business contacts with identified network of external members of aftertreatment, powertrain and catalyst domain.
? Maintain and continuously improve knowledge about products, applications, competitors and markets. Then translate to communicate efficiently to orientate the product development, the business strategy and its evolution.
? Support the Global Market Managers in the SOLVAY Special Chem Technologies roadmap, Strategy and Budgets, providing insights from local market understanding

Requirements:

? Education in Engineering Sciences (Bachelor and above) with ability to learn fast technical aspect of Solvay chemical products.
? 5+ years position in the Automotive Industry with strong understanding of the industry, and the technical requirements in the field of automotive emissions control and powertrain.
? Proven working experience as a Business Development Manager or a relevant role. Experience in customer support is a plus.
? Existing network with Chinese OEM, catalyst makers and Tier#1 Suppliers in the automotive aftertreatment technologies
? Good English communication and reporting
? Ability to create strong networks and working with team both multicultural and multifunctional.
? Ability to build and work with schedule with high level of autonomy
? Strong desire both to learn and to share knowledge
? Ability to travel a large part of the working time
? Results orientated, analytical skills and customer focus
