The role:

The Software Developer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of Actuate products on Windows, Linux and UNIX platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Understand the architecture of the product and underlying operating system.
• Understand and produce the required functional and design specifications.
• Write robust code in a manner that ensures solid performance.
• Develop unit test plans and unit test cases and conduct the tests.
• Follow rigorous Actuate software development process to achieve product development goals within required time frames.

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Computer Science/Electronic Engineering from a top university; Masters degree or above preferred
• 1+ year commercial software development experience desired, ideally someone who has been through full development cycle for at least one release of a commercial software product, preferably a programmable platform product (e.g. operating system, DBMS, application server, or similar)
• Familiar with Java or C++ programming language
• Strong expertise with OO design and development, Agile methodologies, UML
• 2 or more years of working with at least one of the following application servers: JBoss, BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Tomcat
• Experience in web application technologies (HTML, Javascript, CSS, Struts, JSF)
• Experience in XML technologies (SOAP, XML, XSLT)
• Experience in JUnit, Jsunit or Selenium testing framework
• Experience resolving software problems in a multithreaded, server-side environment
• Strong ability to troubleshoot and analyze software problems
• Experience on resolving complex performance issues for AJAX applications
• Experience in an Agile/Scrum development model
• Experience with developing Eclipse plugins and cross platform development with Windows and UNIX operating systems is a plus
• Highly motivated with a positive attitude and capable of working as an individual contributor as well as a team player
• Strong communication skills, must be comfortable with business-level English (all technical documentation will be in English)
