Engineering Design Center Manager Duties and Responsibilities
? Direct and manage multiple concurrent engineering projects while ensuring their success in meeting their respective objectives
? Present engineering plans, progress status updates and situations to management
? Review proposed engineering designs and subsequent product and process enhancements or changes
? Perform administrative and oversight functions in enforcing policies and hiring and firing of engineers
? Develops, directs and coordinates department activities, including design testing, to assure new product designs are completed on time, are free from defects, and satisfy the desires of our customers. All designs will be manufacture-able and consistent with the product cost allocations
? Gives work directions, resolves problems, prepares schedules and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work. Reviews engineering designs, programs and reports. Provides technical direction and support.
? Coordinates activities of department with related activities of other departments to ensure efficiency and economy
? Prepares timely, accurate, complete and concise reports on department activities for GM
? Evaluates current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives to develop and implement improved procedures and practices. Understands the first priority of the department is providing quick and accurate designs
? Develops in-depth knowledge of the rugged computer industry and its products. Researches technologies applied in other industries for possible applications in the rugged computer industry. Forwards findings/suggestions to Design Management, who determines what technologies can be applied
? Observes company policies. Continuously strives to find processes that create improved efficiency while maintaining conformance to requirements. Acknowledges responsibility to satisfy the customer, reduce cycle time and eliminate waste
? Performs other duties as assigned. Job duties are subject to change as directed by Management
Engineering Design Center Manager Skills and Specifications
? Must be fluent in both English and Mandarin
? Must have excellent organization, supervisory, managerial and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers and technical staff.
? Must have proven multitasking skills and can work under extreme pressure.
? Must have excellent analytical and computational skills
? Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
? Desired experience interfacing with US based engineering management
Engineering Design Center Manager Education and Qualifications
? A bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
? 10+ years of experience in computer or mobile product design
? 5+ years of experience in management role, preferably interfacing with US design teams
? 6+ years proficiency in Pro E
