General Position Summary:

Ensure Columbia Apparel and Accessory products meet or exceed customer, consumer, and governmental expectations and regulations through the application of prevention based quality tools.


Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

From product proto type through commercialization, act as the quality technical expert for the Columbia liaison office cross-functional teams and external vendor partners. Focus on sharing technical knowledge, training of Columbia quality manuals and standards, quality failure prevention methods, and sharing best manufacturing practices.

Partner with the home office QE's during seasonal product development, to engineer for better bulk manufacturing feasibility and prevent potential manufacturing quality issues at earliest stage.

Throughout proto type stage lead technical discussions with liaison office Merchandising and external vendor partners, to ensure tech-packs are clearly understood and correct proto samples are made to spec. Review & comment on all direct developed proto samples for correct fit, construction, design, and function details. Ensure protos are following all CTQ call-outs, quality recommendations, and standards.

During product Sales Samples stage, attend pre-SS meeting to lead technical discussions with liaison office Merchandising and external vendor partners to ensure correct sample quality. Review and comment on all finished Sales Samples to ensure all CTQ's were followed and fit, construction, design, and function details are correct as spec.

At product Pre-Production stage, attend PP meeting to lead technical discussions with liaison office QA and external vendor partners to ensure correct bulk production quality and CTQ/CTP processes are finalized.

Carry-out the Critical to Quality/Critical to Process QE processes, working in concurrence with the home office QE team, liaison office Merchandising and QA teams, and external vendor partners.


Secondary Functions:

Manage additional projects and duties as assigned by Home Office QE Manager.

Assist with Root Cause Analysis activities for both the Home Office and Liaison Offices.

Maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear management, staff and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Position is not supervisory in nature.

Specific Job Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Textile Science, Quality Engineering or related field, 2 additional years' work experience in lieu of degree
Experience and or knowledge of quality control/assurance processes and procedures
Experience and or knowledge of FMEA and or PDCA quality operations processes
Practical pattern making, grading, and marker experience and or knowledge
Strong background in apparel construction and techniques, in both OW & SW
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Superior oral and written English communication skills
Demonstrated computer proficiency, including MS Office
Strong influencing and negotiating skills
Excellent team player and ability to work independently
Proficient in operating independently, while following general guidelines and direction
Ability to Travel domestically, within Asia, and internationally


Education:

Minimum required education and certification(s) as indicated by the Global Grade. Add preferred education and certifications, if applicable.

Bachelor or Certificate Degree in Apparel Design/Development, Textiles, or related field.


Experience:

Minimum required years and types of experience, as indicated by the Global Grade. Add preferred years and types of experience, if applicable.

Minimum 7-9 years' work experience in a textiles/apparel related field
