JOB TITLE: Quality Engineer - Friction
LOCATION NAME: F-M Shanghai - CTC
REPORTS TO: Quality Director - Global Friction Products
DEPARTMENT: Friction
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Quality Engineer will support the overall Quality Management System. This position must drive incoming quality, manufacturing quality and customer delivered quality. The QE will support the Federal-Mogul receiving sites in the region and globally as required across the Business Unit and at the direction of the Quality Director. Specific projects will be deliverable as the prevailing business needs demand. The QE will be a focal point for problem solving activites between the Federal-Mogul receiving sites, the Customer and the supply-base.
The QE must develop audit and visit plans, document and report results including any non-conformances. The QEs shall drive the preventive and corrective action programs they are involved in and will also be responsible for driving compliance to corporate directives where applicable.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
? Conduct Visits and Audits at Federal-Mogul locations as required by the Global Director.
? Carry out special projects and assignments as deemed appropriate by the Global Director.
? Collect and analyse data to suggest appropriate courses of action to improve group performance.
? Promote and deliver assistance to the manufacturing sites to encourage improvements in performance.
? Submit objective and pro-active reports in a timely fashion to further improve the working relationship between Federal-Mogul, it's Customers and it's Supply Base.
? Work closely with the regional Directors and their teams to communicate requirements of projects.
? Support regional projects, working with all area's of the business.
? Assist and support the New Product Introduction (PPAP Submissions, APQP) programs for Federal-Mogul at Purchasing and site levels as required.
? Implement and support the overall Strategy of Global Friction Products and Federal-Mogul as a whole.
? Support Continuous Improvement activities throughout the organisation.
? Communicate and promote Policies and Procedures of Federal-Mogul.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
? Six Sigma Training Desirable.
? A working knowledge of automotive standards, e.g. TS16949:2009.
? A Practical knowledge of automotive tools such as PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flows etc.
? A good understanding of AIAG and AITF requirements and practices.
? Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
? Good understanding and practice in using problem solving tools.
? Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
? Working knowledge of measuring techniques as may be encountered in a manufacturing environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
? Abide by the location's EH&S policy endorsed by the local management, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established under its EHSMS, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard. Report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure them.
? Travel to Customers, Suppliers and other Federal-Mogul facilities as required for this position.
? The authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities relating to the product, process and quality system and the authority to stop further work on non-conforming suspect product until the deficiency or conditions have been corrected.
? Non-Standard hours as demanded by the position.
? Capable of providing any other additional support as requested by supervisor.
? Able to communicate effectively, both orally and written in English.
? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
? Valid Driving Licence
EDUCATION:
? Preferred education is BSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
? Certified 6 Sigma training desirable.
EXPERIENCE:
? Min. of 3 years of quality engineering work experience required.
? Manufacturing experience of Friction and/or Friction related products essential.
? Auditing (External/Internal) experience desirable.
? Involvement in complex, multi-task orientated projects.
? Experience of volume manufacturing environment will be an advantage.
