Job summary
Mechanical Pulping technology considering customer needs and terms of delivery, starting from sales phase to the end of the guarantee period. Technology manager / engineer is also responsible of Reference Management of the selected pulping lines.
- Main duty is to assist Mill Improvements and Services in offering technical solutions and having mills under continuous monitoring by effective Reference Management.
- Participate sales and to project work by giving “customer” view
- Define customers’ needs, worries and goals
- Convince the customer of Valmet’s technical superiority together with the Sales, Mill Improvement teams and other stakeholders
- The selection of technology together with the sales and application managers. Define the most cost effective proposal to meet the customers’ needs and review the offered scope
- The co-ordination and writing performance guarantees
- The preparation of Performance Agreements, Paper Machine Analysis and Grade Changing
- Prepare and give technology presentation
- Update the reference presentations for the mills in the specific geographical area
- Support process solution, machine sizing and mill balance calculations for new sales projects
- Continue to find out new business opportunities with our customers
- In rebuild cases, coordinate the necessary process analysis for the existing pulping line
- Collect the information for valid references for the sales projects
- Communicate, transfer, and interpret process data with the customer
- The risk analyses (technical portion) and risk management together with a specific teams
- Monitor competitors’ technical concepts and actions
- Understand the local pulping markets and dominant technical practices
- Keep personal contact with all mills in the relevant geographical area their needs, financial status, investment plans, and help them in improving their operations through new purchases of equipment or services

Job Duties & Responsibilities in project phase
- Technology manager / engineer will lead the uniform and high-quality execution of pulping technology to ensure the good production and quality development and fulfillment of performance targets. The objective is to obtain high customer satisfaction efficiently. Pulping technology manager / engineer will operate as the primary Valmet contact in the customer interface in pulping technology, concept and performance guarantee related matters
- The leadership of the project together with the project manager
- The creation of start-up plan together with the start-up manager
- Process and pulp quality optimization planning
- The leadership of optimization and troubleshooting work
- The follow up and fulfillment of the guarantees
- Lead and participate in Performance Agreements, Paper Machine Analysis and Grade Changing
- Joining start-ups in Improvement projects and in a new lines of required

Others:
- Actively participate in sales meetings with sales teams, MIL teams
- PTM monthly report and annual production survey
- Success stories preparation cooperate with sales and project managers
- Engage in the development of hi-tech products
- Uncover the potential or root reasons of operating issues
- Knowledge of current paper and pulp market prices and trends
- Develop close, professional relations with local customers for long term support
- Develop the China Technology Data Base about Pulping
- Feedback to R&D from the Chinese customer’s point of view.




Requirement
- More than 5 years’ experience on Pulp and Paper industry
- Excellent understanding of our Chemical and Mechanical Pulping process and products
- Initiative
- Good communicating skills in both Chinese and English
- Willing to travel mainly in China about 60% of the time
