JOB TITLE: Industrial Designer
JOB LOCATION: Shanghai

Team / project introduction:

Work in a strong R&D team to develop world's best innovative and technologically advanced products and associated packaging design in the Consumer and Industrial Electronics Products environment for local and international clients.
Job Responsibilities:
-Unique professional specialists who blend artistic design skills with technical, mechanical, materials and manufacturing expertise. They are individuals with strong egos and have a broad understanding of the role of high quality products in the modern world.
-Applying the results of user research toward conceptualizing and generating intuitive and functional solutions.
-Representative Deliverables include sketches, 2-D and 3-D conceptual models that apply a range of low- through high-fidelity techniques, and ergonomic assessments.
-Executing against a set of design philosophies and principles that ensure an extraordinary sensitivity to product aesthetics, design Language, ease-of-use.
-Collaborating with hardware engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to create and execute platform-level strategies that promote ease-of-use and consistency of design attributes.

Requirements:
MUST:
- Minimum of 3-6 years of real world experience.
- Minimum of a university level degree Bachelor in Industrial Design.
-Strong English language skills including the ability to discuss detailed aesthetic, technical and manufacturing concepts.
- Ability to understand the design brief and the requirements of the product and the user. Ability to develop a brief where none exists.
- Illustration and sketching ability as a mechanism for communicating design concepts.
-Strong materials knowledge including polymers, metals and composites.
-Detailed understanding of Rapid Prototype and Rapid Tooling processes and the associated 3D mechanical CAD file support.
-General knowledge of human factors and ergonomics with an understanding of the intrinsic relationship between man and machine.

PREFER:
- Graphic Design skills are of an advantage but not a core requirement.
- Overseas work experience (in the field) will be highly regarded.
-Highly developed Computer Aided Design (CAD) skills including 3D assembly and detailed part modeling including production ready injection molding part and assembly design.
-Manufacturing/Production documentation skills including full GD&T for specification of parts and assemblies.
-Detailed technical understanding of manufacturing processes including plastic injection molding, sheet metal fabrication and composite materials.

Software Skills
Preferred -
-Siemens Solid Edge - High level technical competency using Part, Sheet Metal and Assembly Modelling.
-McNeal Rhino 3D - NURBS Modelling Software
-Maxon Cinema 4D - Rendering and Animation Software
-Adobe CS - Photoshop and Illustrator - supporting skills for product visualization and graphics
Optional -
- Solid Works - High level technical competency using Part, Sheet Metal and Assembly Modelling.
- ProEngineer, Unigraphics, CATIA
-Autodesk 3DS MAX or similar rendering and animation software
