General Objective:
The Technical Support Engineer is responsible for the service and support of SMC internal and external customers. The key aspect of responsibility is sales support, knowledge of customer requirements and the finding of solutions to satisfy those needs to maximise profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with PLM teams to adequately service customers.
Support PLM teams with increasing business.
Liaise with the Product Line Managers on product quality, supply and delivery issues.
Provide technical support to both customers and the internal sales teams.
Assist to ensure that products are delivered in a timely, professional manner as well as meeting the customer needs for quality.
Assist in providing product technical support and solutions.
Assess customer equipment performance and reliability via parts availability and service effectiveness (eg operator training package) to ultimately reduce operational costs for the Customer.
Assess technical issues with all SMC equipment/product and prepare/submit quotations for small to medium expenditure for the Account Manager.
Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with Company Values and current Company Policies and Procedures.
Ensure Customers have latest SMC product technology enhancements and are aware of the latest developments to obtain better performance.
Carry out duties as instructed by your manager.
Qualification:
A well developed understanding of product applications would be advantageous.
Technical aptitude and ability in SMC equipment.
Demonstrated understanding of the customer business process within the mining and construction Industry
Sound understanding or exposure to metal mining tools and accessories.
