- This is a Solution Engineer position. The right individual for this job will be responsible for the full lifecycle implementation of an MDM - meter data management product, and other Smart Grid oriented applications. (Ideally the individual understands the end-to-end meter-to-cash processes and technical solutions including knowledge on meters, communications, head-end system, etc.) This includes the requirements gathering, specification documentation, system construction/configuration, testing, Q/A, delivery and post Go-Live activities. This is a customer facing position that requires a high level of professionalism, working hand in hand with the Project Manager, Solution Architect, other Solution Engineers, and the end-user base to deliver a quality solution.
- The Solution Engineer role will contribute to the software installation, configuration, business validation, performance tuning, exception handling and implementation support efforts of the Professional Services team. This role will play a key role in the deployment and integration of eMeter’s EnergyIP Platform and Energy Engage™ consumer web application solutions.
- We are looking for strong technical engineers with a solid business and technical background, a solid understanding of Enterprise Software delivery in the Smart Meter/Smart Grid Utility space, and experience with current and prevalent web technologies. Understanding of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Meter Data Management (MDM) is a plus. This is an analytical, technical, problem-solving, customer facing position focused on installing, configuring and testing eMeter software solutions to meet customer requirements. Ideal candidates will possess the ability to work independently, remotely and multi-task in very fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:
- Support customer engagement and pre-sales technical consultancy activities.
- Participate on teams of Project Managers, Solutions Architects and other Solution Engineers.
- Provide work estimates to be used in project planning.
- Provide status updates to be used in project tracking.
- Deploy, configure and test eMeter’s EnergyIP MDM Platform and Energy Engage customer presentment software solutions.
- Assist in designing workflows, new processes, data flows and integrations with existing systems and business practices.
- Create and deliver end user training and workshops through on-site implementation test cycle.
- Create, execute and support customer acceptance test plans for eMeter software solutions.
- Provide technical assistance with the creation of operational processes.
- Identify, log, track and assist in the resolution of software and process issues.
- Provide the first tier of support for technical questions on software functionality from end-users, internal and external customers.
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or relevant field.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise systems integration
- 5+ years of extensive customer-facing consulting experience
- 2+ years of experience creating technical documentation (requirements, high and low level design documents, etc)
- 2+ years of experience installing software on UNIX and Windows platforms including Oracle, Siebel, Tibco, Tomcat environment and maintaining several versions of software in both virtual and hosted solutions.
- 2+ years of experience writing SQL queries
- Experience with VMWare Virtualization technologies and cloud based solution support and maintenance.
- Web technology deployment, configuration and administration background
- Understanding of Java web application server technology
- Functional understanding of web presentation technologies, including PHP, HTML, CSS and Javascript
- Knowledge of Oracle 10G or higher including understanding databases and DBA best practices
- Experience with using a source control system
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Ability to work in a team and individually
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, senior management and executives and project teams.
- Excellent public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and deliver projects with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable driving installation and deployment standards
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80%

Preferred Qualifications:

- Relevant experience and familiarity with Smart Grid initiatives within Utility company and/or Smart Grid software delivery company
- Experience with Meter Data Management Systems (MDM, AMR, AMI, Smart Grid)
- Experience with Extraction, Transformation and Load technologies (ETL).
- Experience with back-office and other “Meter-to-Cash” Applications (OMS, CIS, WMS, MWM, SCADA, IVR, GIS)
- Development/Architect Experience with Enterprise Service Bus and Web Services
- Writing proficiency in PL/SQL, Packages, Triggers, Procedures
- Scripting proficiency in languages such as Perl, Python, KSH, CSH, Born Shell
- Experiences with meter, data concentrator, PLC, RF, Backhaul communications are a plus
