职位描述:
This role had two responsibilities:
1) The Senior mechanical designer responsibility is as an individual contributor in the area of mechanical design. This responsibility will be 60-70% of the role.
2) The Mechanical Team Leader responsibility is to provide leadership and guidance to the mechanical team. This responsibility will be 30 to 40% of the role.

Responsibilities – Team Leader
1. Provide leadership to the mechanical engineers through coaching, mentoring and teaching while ensuring work is aligned with all design best practices and attention to detail.
2. Foster innovation by ensuring the team is aware of and competent in relevant emerging technologies and techniques.
3. Translate product requirements into engineering requirements and assess and address associated technical risks.
4. Establish clear goals so people in the technical team know what they have to do; ensure individual goals are traceable to project team goals.
5. Ensure that all section members are performing at an A-team level, and follow up promptly and effectively on any performance issue; lead by example to foster an environment of constructive and candid feedback.
6. Provide timely and unbiased critical review of work in progress to ensure design best practices and robustness of designs.
7. Communicate clearly and effectively with the team and all stakeholders and resolve disagreements in a way that addresses all major issues.
8. Drive execution and delivery of all technical team commitments on specification, on time and on budget.
9. Remove roadblocks that cannot be overcome by technical team members.
10. Identify any risks or uncertainties that may impact project execution.
11. Lead with the values of respect, integrity, trust and credibility, leading by example and ensure that the highest standards of quality are maintained at all times for all work that this done.
12. Maintain good rapport with key vendors and work closely to find and implement ways to achieve win-win results.
13. Ensure safety has a high profile with all team members.
  
Responsibilities - Designer
1. Design ownership of multiple projects or tasks from definition of requirements through implementation in production.
2. Development of new products or features or enhancements to existing products to improve product specifications, reliability, cost or manufacturability
3. Support of Production and Field Service through assembly, test and adjust, and troubleshooting procedure documentation on existing and new designs
4. Ensure all products meet regulatory and safety requirements appropriate for manufacturing, service and customer needs.
5. Execute flawless engineering change orders to enable clear documentation and communications with production and service.
6. Lead design reviews with an international team in English to ensure product quality and mitigate technical risks.
  
Skills – Designer
1. Outstanding mechanical aptitude including the ability to create new designs from scratch and improve on existing designs using DFMA and FMEA techniques.
2. Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks design tools for creating sheet metal parts, machined parts and complex electromechanical assemblies.
3. Experience in sheet metal and precision machined parts design with strong understanding of tolerances and stack-up analysis.
4. Solid understanding of the application of electronics, firmware and software in electromechanical devices.
5. Hands-on skills in assembling and testing complex electromechanical systems.
6. Experience making machined and sheet metal parts in shop is an asset.
7. Strong understanding of engineering change control. Experience with both PDM and PLM is required; experience with SolidWorks EPDM and Oracle Agile PLM is an asset
8. Hands on experience and good solid understanding of capabilities as well as limitations of all manufacturing and assembly processes. (Note: This requires a significant amount of hands-on experience)
 
Education and Experience
Education:
1. A degree in mechanical or mechatronics system engineering or equivalent experience.
 
Experience:
1. 10 years’ experience in mechanical design demonstrating increasing levels of complexity and responsibility.
2. Several years’ experience developing complex, multi-disciplinary products.
3. Experience working in a professional project management environment.
4. Track record of accomplishments with substantial technical success.
