Cooley's Shanghai office has an opening for an experienced Legal Translator in its Business Department.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the translation of a variety of legal and other documents from English to Mandarin and Chinese to Mandarin, including legal documents used in all kinds of M&A, VC/PE, FDI and other corporate transactions, licenses and other documents that will include scientific, technical and other specialized terminology, and documents used for marketing and business development that may include information about the firm’s activities not just in China but also in the United States and around the world. Qualified candidates must have prior experience as a legal translator and have the ability to work overtime as needed.

? excellent verbal and written communication skills; reliable, committed and punctual nature;
? the ability to work independently and also as part of a collaborative team for multiple supervisors;
? the ability to meet deadlines and maintain flexibility with work assignments and work schedule;

? the ability to function in a professional and polite manner when dealing with clients, co-workers and others.
Skills & Experience:
Required:
? 3+ years of legal translation experience, preferably in a major law firm.
? Must speak Mandarin and English fluently. Profound proficiency of written English;
? University degree or above with major in English or law;
