Introduction

The Dell EMC Hybrid Cloud Platforms’ Big Data team is responsible for developing engineered, next generation solutions leveraging Dell EMC core products and platforms with the specific purpose of solving Big Data use cases for customers. We architect, develop, test and document the solution stack, generally comprised of but not limited to core Delll EMC products. Detailed coordination with both internal (VMware, Pivotal, RSA) and external partners is required.

The primary role for solutions engineering is the technical administration, operation, and verification of complex, high profile solution initiatives. Solution scope generally involves native cloud applications, PaaS, IaaS, various storage and data repositories, data ingestion and movement layers, analytics platforms and databases, APIs, data search and governance, security, and application enablement. Projects will often be developed with a rapid prototyping or proof-of concept approach. Ability and demonstrated experience working independently through complex issues is a must.

General Description

- Understand design of big data solution initiatives. Build, upgrade, and administrate development, testing, PoC, and training solution lab environments.
- Create tools to automate lab installation and configuration.
- Exercises considerable latitude, without appreciable direction, in determining technical objectives, and meeting program deliverables
- Works with key stakeholders (Engineering, Product Management) to define release content

Required Skills
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years’ experience as Hadoop analytics platform administrator.
- Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience of Hadoop analytics platform, HortonWorks or Cloudera, and various ecosystem services deployed upon it.
- Strong knowledge of Linux systems (RHEL/CentOS/Red Hat/Ubuntu/etc.)
- Operational experience of Impala, HAWQ, MongoDB, or Hive.
- Fluent in at least one scripting language (Shell/Perl/Python/Java/etc.)
- Strong written and verbal English skills.
- Must be effective working not only independently but also in a team setting.

Strongly Desired Skills
- Experience in virtualized data center, including operational services in IaaS & Paas environments such as VMware SDDC, AWS, GCE and OpenStack.
