POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Director will be responsible for developing the strategic marketing and business operations of the studio.



You will analyze the marketplace in China to identify and develop strategic partnerships, while driving new revenue growth as well as long term relationships. This is a senior level position in which you will be expected independently establish new key relationships while providing mentorship to others on the team.



You will be given the freedom to work within broad guidelines, to independently initiate and/or recommend new programs and partnership opportunities. You will be able to motivate, direct, and utilize resources within the greater organization to achieve the goals of the position.

The successful candidate will participate in the development of the overall corporate direction and be expected to implement a complimentary regional partnership strategy.


RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
- Being an advocate the Jacob Jensen Design and its values

- Negotiating business terms and executing partnership contracts
- Managing partner relationships to ensure each opportunity achieves its full potential
- Working with internal teams (Design/Management/Finance/Legal) to assess the pros and cons of opportunities with potential partners across a variety of product and service categories (i.e. consumer electronics, kitchen appliances, furniture, watches, eyewear, corporate identities and etc)
- Working with and Maintaining high visibility of the Strategic Business Development team within DTMA by communicating and executing its initiatives with cross functional teams to ensure alignment of goals for strategic partners

- Being accountable for the profitability of strategic development contracts
- Working closely with the studio creative team, the Creative Director and Project Director


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Formal training/education in business management and design
- Degree in Business, Law, Finance or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a business development environment
- 2-3 years experience in a combination of direct contract negotiation, partner management and design
- Contract negotiation experience with the ability to minimize risk exposure and secure the most favorable terms
- Experience in design, consumer electronics, furniture industries
- Experience in design commerce and the financial sector is an asset
- Project Management experience is an asset
- Demonstrable understanding of the difference between trends and fads in the design industry
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with partners, customers, competitors and suppliers at all levels of an organization
- Understanding technically feasible solutions to drive projects to completion
- Understanding or business exposure to Greater China (Europe, China, HK & TW) will be advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required in Mandarin and English.
